Recycling Old Doors Into New Projects Photo

As most of you know, we have retail space in a antique and craft mall in Logan, Ohio. I occassionally get to see some very creative crafting and wanted to share this wash basin photo I took there today. If you notice to the right hand side of the wash basin project, you'll see a old door that has been sawed in two and made into a corner bookcase, how cool is that? Btw, the wash basin he was charging $40.00 for, same with the bookcase... something to think about next time your clearing out unwanted clutter.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE those, Anna.

The bookcase is awesome!!

I also love screens and headboards on beds made from old doors.

Good question on the wash basin... I would guess as a outdoor item, perhaps to be used as a bird feeder or in a corner of a garden?

Tami & Bluebird

I thought they were cute, especially the corner bookcase... if my house wasn't so small I would certainly buy one.

I would LOVE he washbasin in my garden. I am going to be looking out for 'junk' at garage sales and hard rubbish collection. Also the doors, I would love one nailed to the back fence to gove the illusion of a place to go!

Meg

I'm not sure where you are at... but if you have a habitat for humanity, they always have doors. Also check into Freecycle if you have one in your area, list it as something you are looking for. Goodness, one of my friends just got a boat off there this past weekend! 1957 needed a motor and paint job but still, completely free.

Funny you should mention a door in the garden for illusion... someone here locally had a house built to look like a old Williamsburg home ( New England style home). They had 3 doors as in the old days one shop went into the workshop of that day. So anyways, only 2 of their doors actually are entry doors, the other is totally a illusion goes into a blank wall.

I had an old wooden door in the door frame that I had planned on putting in the field. Well, we ended up using it else where as a real door! LOL So I'm on the lookout for another one; same thing I thought a doorway that actually opens in the field would be a "interesting" thing!

My father inlaw had an inside door he didn't want any more so he bought a set of folding legs and made a table for when he had extra visitors, it stored flat when the legs folded.
He also bought a set of louvered doors for $10 and cut them to sixe and painted and attached to the outsdie of the bathroom and toilet (they backed onto the courtyard) windows for the shutter effect on his house, htey look good ans are still there 7 or so years later.

Cat Lover

That sounds like a great idea... you could even make a little sign over the door "Entry to Oz" or something like that, LOL!

I love to hear creative ways of using things that would end up in the landfill.
