Chicago deep dish pizza?

It is my dh's 50th and dd's 12 birthday on Saturday and I am to make Chicago deep dish pizza. I have had it once at Lou Malnati's in Chicago, but have never made it. There are a few recipes out there, but I need some real pointers to make sure it tastes good. I will be making enough for about 20 people. Can you help me make it perfect? Thanks!

I have tried a few different recipes for deep dish pizza, and my favorite one is using frozen bread dough for the crust, it comes out perfect everytime. Make sure you flour your hands before trying to do anything with it, as it gets stciky if you dont. Good luck, let us know how it comes out.

Thanks Sandie! How long do you bake it with that kind of dough? I will be making 15 10-12" pizzas and time will be of the essence!

I bake it around 15 min, or until the edges are golden ( a light golden not dark) I find if the edges are dark, I think you all will like this for crust, I also make Calzones using the bread dough as well, in fact dh likes them better than the pizzas. Thanks for the bd wishes! It was great! My sis came in and we made 13 deep dish pizzas and 2 extra (really really big) pizzas and bread stix and appies! I had so much dough I didn't know what to do with it! I found a recipe online, tweaked it and it was fabulous, except it made much more than they said it would! I was to let it rise in the fridge over night, but did it in the morning. I am so glad I did, cause I went in the kitched 2 hours after I made it and my fridge door was open a foot! It was so funny!
I am glad I had my convection oven and could cook 9 at a time, or I think I would still be cooking! lol
The pizzas were a big hit, and enjoyed by all. I can't say that I want to do it again very soon as that was a lot of work! Next time, I think I will do the bread dough thing, it sounds really good without the work! Thanks for the support, it was very much appreciated!
