looking for a jalapeno 'butter' recipe

'Butter' as in thick, creamy, spicy, sweet spread that contains no butter. Think apple butter. I bought some from a farmer and dh loves it. He ate it all on crackers! Does anyone have a recipe for this?

I just picked up a jar of this at a Amish market, it is good! Here is the recipe I got.

36 peppers (use of mixture of sweet and hot peppers or use all hot if you like), seeded
1 quart vinegar (white OR apple cider vinegar will work)
1 quart prepared mustard
6 cups sugar
1 cup flour
1 cup water

Chop peppers OR grind the peppers. (If you chop them you want them rather small pieces). Put peppers, vinegar, mustard, and sugar into a large pot and cook awhile till the peppers are tender. Add flour after you have mixed it with the water and made a smooth paste; stir constantly. Cook till thickened and smooth. Pour into hot sterilized jars, seal, and use a boiling water bsath for 15 minutes.

The color of the butter will vary depending on the peppers, this is OK.

Did you use jalapeno peppers or a mixture of sweet and hot ones? I have only had the mixture myself.
