Question ISO Date Ball Cookies

I had a recipe several years ago for Date Ball Cookies... everyone loved 'em. I misplaced the recipe last time I made them (which was probably about 6 years ago). Can anyone help me out? They aren't a cookie that goes into the oven but I do remember you cook something on the stovetop before you mix the ingredients together. I would appreciate any feedback gals-- Thanks!

Dianne's Date Cookie Balls

1 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
2 c. sugar
2 c. ground dates (Dianne uses the ground and sugared ones)
2 c. chopped walnuts
4 well beaten eggs
4 tbsp. melted butter

Mix all ingredients. Put in 9 x 13 pan. Bake at 350 degrees. When edges start to brown, stir mixture all around in the pan. Bake until light brown. Cool enough to handle. Butter your hands and use a teaspoon to scoop out dough. Roll into balls and then into brown sugar. Set balls aside to finish cooling.

Mine are called "Skillet Cookies"

1 cup sugar
1/4 lb. butter
1- 8 oz pkg. chopped dates
2 well beaten eggs
2 tsp vanilla
3 cups Rice Krispie cereal
3/4 cup nuts
Powdered sugar

Melt butter in a cast iron skillet, add sugar and dates. Let sugar and dates melt dome then add beaten egg. Stir fast and constantly as you add the egg or your eggs will cook. Cook on low for 15 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and add vanilla, rice krispie cereal and nuts. Let cool enough to handle and then roll into small balls (not too tight) and then roll in powdered sugar. Store between wax paper layers in a tin.
