Looking for Snickerdoodle recipe

Looking for a good snickerdoodle recipe. I had one and cant find it since we moved. An easy way to make them is using the refrigerator sugar cookes and rolling them in sugan and cinnamon. But I want a real home made recipe.

I moved your request over to the Recipe Request forum.

Here's a link to a recipe here at Family Corner from Jeannie that is posted in another thread. It should be a GREAT recipe as every recipe that Jeannie has posted that I have tried is absolutely fantastic!!

snickerdoodle recipe

Hee is a recipe for snickerdoodles which I have used for years. Not recently however as I live alone and I do not need cookies even though I love them!! LOL

Snickerdoodle

1 cup shortening
1 1/2 cups white sugar
Cream shortening and sugar together.
Add two eggs which have been lightly beaten.
Add-
2 3/4 cups flour
1 tsp soda
2 tsp cream of tartar
1/2 tsp salt My recipe said to sift all of the dry ingred together but I never did so that is optional. I just did not like to bother and after the first time of sifting I could not see where it made any difference. With the flour now I don't think it is as important.
Mix well and chill dough in frig for a few hours. Roll into balls about the size of a small walnut. Roll in-
2 tbl sugar
2 tbl cinnamon
Which has been mixed.
Place on ungreased cookie sheet about 2 inches aprt and bake at 400 degrees for 8-10 minutes or until lightly browned. This makes approx 5 dozen 2 inch cookies.

There may be some better recipes out there but I always liked this one. Good luck. Marian in ND Let me know when the cookies are done and I will be over for a taste and a cup of coffee.

Here is the one I've used since I was first married (a long time ago), so I don't have an idea were the recipe came from, but it is good!

1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
1/2 cup shortening
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs
2 3/4 cups all purpose flour
2 tsp cream of tartar
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
2 tbsp sugar
2 tsp cinnamon

Heat oven to 400 degrees. Mix butter, shortening, 1 1/2 cups sugar, and the eggs together thoroughly. Blend in flour, cream of tartar, soda and salt. Shape dough by rounded tsp into balls. Mix 2 tbsp sugar and the cinnamon and roll balls into this mixture. Palce 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet and bake 8-10 minutes or until set. Immediately remove from cookie sheet into wire rack to cool. 6 dozen cookies

Enjoy!!
