Groomers...Good Or Bad...

I have a problem with the woman who clips Dutchess...

Dutchess is a small dog...Poodle/Spaniel/Terrier and Bishon Frieze...now the woman who clips her keeps cutting her skin...the last time hubby took her over there she came back with a cut on the side of her nose...it became infected and finally healed...I told hubby that is it,no more...I won't send Dutchess back to her...

This woman does not listen when we tell her what type of clip we want...we ask her not to shave her so short and my dog comes back almost bald...we ask her not to clip her tail and she comes back with a shaved tail...

Am I doing the wrong thing in keeping my dog away from this woman...This groomer charges $50.00 every time Dutchess is clipped...I have everything her to clip her myself...I do her nails but clipping around her face scares me...Should I have a professional groomer do it or should I do it myself...I don't want my dog hurt again...

Has anyone else had a problem with Groomers...

Thanks in advance...

Theresa, I used to have poodles when I was younger. Groomers are why I will never have another one. The good groomers told me that the bad groomers create pain and anxiety in dogs. It sounds like this groomer is a bad groomer. Good groomers first of all, would not burn or cut the dogs' skin. Have you called the Veterinarians in the area to find out who the good groomers are who will not injure your baby and who will groom your dog the way that you want?

My sister is a groomer and would never treat a dog that way! Shame on her! You should find a dog that you like the look of their coiff and ask where they had it done. That way you know that they can be trusted. Also you could ask a vet, they quite often have good groomers around them. Hit a dog show too! Good luck!

Thank you for your input on this...DeBora there are no vets here...the closest is almost 4 hours away...but I will be talking to our vet this week and see who he suggest...but for now I am looking for a new groomer...or I will just do it myself...I felt so bad when Dutchess came home with cuts on her...I lost it on the woman who was grooming her and told her that was it,Dutchess will never go back to her again...

Hi, we own or I should say a golden Retriever owns us. Last year we took her to a groomer. She was not cut on the body, but when we got her home after the initial shock of seeing her. WE had a golden retriever who looked like a YELLOW LAB. Daisy was so embaressed she hid out for a week. Would not go for her daily walk. She almost stood on her back legs and covered her body with her upper legs and paws. No really, we had one depressed dog for a good month or two. That groomer has not seen us since...
