11 month old puppy nips

I have a problem my dog Chomper is 11 months old and is an outside dog. They (Chomper and her sister Co co Beens) stay in their run and when we pour their food over the fence she nips at our hands or whatever she catches first with those sharp teeth. We have tried the gentle swat on the nip of her nose and firmly say no but she keeps doing it. What are your ideas to help me to help her to stop nipping. thanks.

This dog is domesticated, which means she should be interacting with people regularly. You are setting yourself up to fail if you keep her in a pen and she never gets out for exercise and socialization. She nips you to try to get you to interact with her, play, rough and tumble and such. Does she ever get to do that? At the very least, she should get out and run and play with the other dog. If you don't have a fenced area, take her for a leashed, 30 minute walk every day. Her behavior will change soon if you do that. This is not a good situation for a large dog. Let us know.
