First of all let me say Welcome to FC

as a grandmother enjoy thier first bday as all they will have to remember is the pictures, make it easy on yourself, as time goes by it won't be that easy.

I would suggest for thier 1st bday to let whoever is making the cake if you are odering it that it's yoru child's 1st bday, many times they will throw in a extra little cake where they can stick thier hands, fingers and sometimes even the face...

again make sure you got film and batteries for that camera, sit back and enjoy your child bday instead of all the hassle, it will come soon enought.

The gd's went with the colors they seem to like the most, and the animal they liked the most, like one went with Pooh bear, another was another merry go rounds I believe..

if you are doing a scrapebook, make sure you keep a napkin and invitation if you are doing it where they can see what they was like, you could even take a piece of each wrapped gift to go into the pages.

hope this helps

Happy face Awesome party idea!

I just read the fear factor party posts and I'm blown away by the creativity of mommy_2305! I wish I had seen it before planning my son's 9th birthday! Oh, well! I'll save it until next year! Thanks for the great idea!

A cake ideas for birthday parties

For my daughter's First birthday we made an open book cake. We baked it in a sheet cake and then cut out a wedge in the middle and put icing decorated like a ribbon down the middle of that, then we put the A, B, C's on it with pictures of the items on the cake using frosting, a person could do the same wit actual photos of items laminated and also do the same with the letters. Also instead of a frosting or icing bookmark you could put a laminated on in the middle. Anyway, it was cute and turned out great. For her second birthday we made a cake in a heart shaped pan look like a strawberry with chocolate on top of it. It was cute. For her Third birthday she had a 3d Garfield stand up cake that her Dad decorated and I made. As we have an old Garfield pan he bought years ago, we made it and set in on a sheet style cake to make more cake to go around at the party. The base was a chocolate sheet cake. For our son's birthday one year, we made a race track cake, using a fork to make the path, and decorated it with chocolate icing and it was a figure eight track, then we added little toy cars to the cake. He still has them to this day. One year we made him a cake by baking cakes in a loaf pan and dividing it to look like a jeep, truck and used m and m's for headlights, it was cute, you can also make cars the same way. That year his sister got a special cupcake with a little doll in the middle of it. It was so cute, we decorated the top of the doll with frosting/icing and the skirts was the cupcake and we put red hots on the skirt, you could put sprinkles or any candy on it that sticks to the frosting/icing. Her regular cake was a small sheet cake, like 8x10 with store bought sugar icing decorations, they were red roses and the icing/frosting was white, so the cupcake was in white and red too. I enjoy puting together cakes for parties. I can't decorate with a tube yet, but plan on learning. My husband and my Mom can do that part. I use a decorating can to write on cakes or use happy birthday store bought decorations. I like to make and frost shaped cakes or sheet cakes. One year I made a heart cake in my heart shaped pan and put lace on the edge or it to decorate it and had my husband write with icing on the cake the name and such. It was cute too.
