littlecmom:

I have done the egg not the beer though, I really didn't see any great value there.

I too used Redken....went back to a cheaper brand....my hair is baby fine not thin just baby fine. I found a world of difference and starting Friday I will be going back to the Redken. Discussed the cost and everything and it has been worked into the budget.

Also, my beautician, whom I trust, told me to trim my hair every 6 weeks as it is short and I want it to grow to be able to get a certain hairstyle I am wanting. She is right on that, but I was sick and unable to do it. So, once again it was worked into the budget and I am doing this on Friday.

If, like many of us, you have work things into the budget, hubby and I sat down Sunday reworked ours to include my haircuts and we added in my shampoo. I do not know what the cost will be but I will certainly look for it when it goes on sale at the beauty shop and I am notified of those sales.

Littlecmom...I did find mine at our wal-mart however ours was recently upgraded into a supercenter with a salon. I got two huge bottles, one of conditioner one of shampoo for $29.00 with a five dollar rebate. Ours doesn't carry it in the standard section with the other brands. If your hair isn't color treated (which mine is) then don't get the color extender. They have others for other hair types. Good luck finding it!

Kellydid...my hair is my only "frivolous" thing that I do for myself but makes me feel sooooo much better. The gal I have has been doing it for about 3 years now and I totally trust her advice! She's great! I too have to budget for it because while it's a great style and color it ain't cheap!

Here's to beauty ladies!

Kellydid, you might have some luck finding that shampoo at beauty supply stores, at less than the "salon price."

We do have a Sally's Beauty Supply Store here and I was going to check and see if they carried it before I hit the salon. I told hubby I guess I was really getting cheap in my old age. LOL

He agreed!!!

Is there a specific brand-name for the root amplifier? I've been looking for something like this, but can't find anything in the regular stores lol!! I haven't been to the beauty supply store yet.

I've been using VO-5 thickening shampoo and conditioner and it's been great. Before that I used Thicker-Fuller Hair --I don't like the hair spray, it's way too stiff!!

I've decided to not color my hair for a while--my ends are splitting like crazy and I shed a LOT! When I wear my hair up, I try to choose a loose style so I'm not yanking it out by the roots lol!!

It comes in kind of a minty green bottle, ask any salon or supply store, I am pretty sure they will be able to tell you.

Thanks, Tasha. I'm going to the mall this weekend(Yikes!!) and there's a salon-product store there I'll check out.

Hehe--I painted my nails yesterday I usually just do a clear coat because I chip them so badly, but I felt frivolous so I went with a very sheer pink. Dh asked if it was our anniversary or some other important date! I told him he'd have to remember on his own. Maybe I'll get flowers out of the deal...mwaahaaahaaa......

I didn't get a root amplifier--the lady at the store suggested just using regular hair spray just at the roots as I blow dry. Seems to work just fine. She also suggested I get more layers since my hair is so fine--I can keep it long, just need to add some OOMPH at the top.
