spaghetti fundraiser

We are having a spaghetti fundraiser to raise funds for the Stuie loans.

The menu is spaghetti, green beans, bread, ice cream.

Any ideas or tips?

Connie

Brownies are always a big hit.

Bread- Is it garlic bread? Garlic or Italian with Butter work well.

Good luck with it sure wish you were closer I love spaghetti dinners.

Perhaps you could raffle something off along with the dinner?

I would like to have some raffles or some items to auction.... depends on how much people help we have. Right now we have the four of us and three others. Ds and his wife I think will be there....... naw... once the word work is used they will pitch a fit!

How many servings can you get from a big can of green beans?

Yes, I am making the french bread to toast for garlic bread. About twenty loaves should do it.

How much hambuger to put in the spaghetti sauce? I plan on using Barb's spaghetti sauce recipe. I think two roasters full of sauce will be enough....... I think.

How do we make coffee in those huge coffee pots???

We have done several spaghetti dinners at my church over the years. My suggestion to you would be to have several pots of boiling water going and to pre-cook the noodles to almost done then chill. When needed just warm the noodles for a couple minutes as needed. Makes serving a crowd much easier and takes less people to serve.

We also offer some of the sauce without meat for those that don't like it that way. We even have some that ask for the noodles plain with just butter and parmesian on them.

I think most of the 30+ serving coffee pots have a mark on the filter for the coffee. We generally keeping refilling the coffee pot with coffee made from the drip kind from the kitchen as the 30+ perk takes so long to remake. And we don't end up with as much coffee leftover.

The can of beans should give you an estimate on how many servings you will get from it. We also pre slice the french bread and butter then put back into the bag to bake as needed so people are getting fresh hot bread. And if you have leftovers it is easier to wrap and freeze.

If possible I would try to pre-sell tickets so you have an idea of a minimum amount of food to make. Make posters and hang on community bulletin boards and contact the local radio and tv stations so they can make community annoucements about the dinner.

We are putting posters up, have some up, have listed this on the community calander, placed a free ad on the local radio station.

I don't have enough people help to pre sell tickets. I am going on faith here!

I am thinking to have baggies so we can sell leftovers, if there are a lot.

I didn't think about tv stations! I will be calling them!

Yes, we plan to have the noodles pre cooked. I have access to one spaghetti pot, looking for another.

You can get 16 - 1 cup servings out of a gallon can of vegtables. If you only give them a half of a cup you can get 32 servings. That's for adults and small kids would be smaller servings.

You should get 16- 8 ounce cups out of a liquid gallon of tea or lemon aid.

If you have a Boy Scout troop in your area, maybe you could see if they have any large cooking pots. And maybe they would be willing to help by volunteering to serve or direct traffic. Just an idea for some community service. Or try one of the clubs at your local schools.

Hope this helps you some.

Vicky

Thats a good idea about contacting Boy Scout or Girl Scout to help with carrying trays for people and getting drinks as most have a volunteer requirement. And of course the parents would want to eat dinner there, wink.
