Question Help With 80's Party Ideas

Hey guys, I have this 80s party to go to for one of my friends birthday party. I need help with the outfit. I was going to buy a crimper and do maybe a skirt with leg warmers or something along those lines. Wondered if yall had any ideas or any good pics that I could look at to get some good ideas -- would love any help.

Thanks

Moving this thread to a place where hopefully it will get more recognition!!

Let's see..... I was in high school in the early 80s. I remember leg warmers--the whole FLASH DANCE craze. I also remember "feathere" hairstyles and tortise shell combs. Gloria Vanderbilt (sp?) jeans--as tight as could be, lol!

I'll look to see what other ideas I can find for you.

I forgot to list jelly bracelets and jelly shoes. Guess what? They are back in style now!!!

So far we have big hair, big earrings, mini skirts ( didnt they were these with tights and leg warmers?) or you could go with a skirt and jelly shoes.

Dont forget Spandex pants and leg warmers---and the workout headbands!!

Memories....Memories!!!

More..... This is too funny!!

Remember using Aqua Net in the purple can to make your big hair stay in place? I sure do!!

Neon colors!! Madonna and her fishnets and lace---I never really got into that look much.

Double layering socks and slouch socks.

Take a look at this website. It pretty much says it all!!

And to think that I was SO COOL!!!!

80's party

Rent the movie "Desperately Seeking Susan" with Madonna. That should help.

I tried to post some information and it got lost. So, let me find it again and try it again.

Here's some links to some punk rock sites which was very popular in the 80s:

http://www.prebble.com/80sFads.html

http://www.prebble.com/80sFashionFile.html

http://www.prebble.com/80sWordofMouth.html

http://www.girl.com.au/80sfashion.htm

http://80music.about.com/gi/dynamic/offsite.htm?site=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.i80s.com%2F80s_f ads%2Ffads1.html

You could also do a search on eBay for 80s clothing to get a few ideas. I remember my son, who was quite young, wearing the neon colored high-tops and the jams he saw his much older cousin wearing. I included some "slang terms" that you could have fun using at the party!

Good luck and have fun

LOL Ajrsmom, my DH and I laughed at some of the slang on these 80s sites! My son was quite young, but he picked up a lot from other kids who had older siblings--including 'like.' He also said 'awesome' a lot too as well as dude, totally, and gnarly. My kids didn't pick up on the 'freak me out' because they said that was only something old people said. I have always used that term all my life. But, I think it got revised during the 80s.
