Any Clean Sweep fans?

A friend of mine introduced me to this show and I love it. Peter Walsh has helped me to get rid of a lot of the extra clutter in my house. My DH has even watched a few episodes with me without my asking him to and he has been thinning down his clutter too.

chuckle Clean Sweep

I love that show. Everytime I watch it, it makes me get up and throw some stuff out. I wish they were around here and they could do two rooms in my house.

I like that show, too. Both aspects are really helpful: working through the emotional things that make people pack-rat and the creative stuff you can do on a small budget.

Love the show! Same here, just makes me want to purge the stacks of magazines and stuff in the house. Get started and then get sidetracked. Wish they could come to my house and keep me on the straight and narrow road of "de-junking"

"Clean Sweep" and Style Network "Clean House" have inspired me to clean up in my own house. We have thrown out a lot of junk, given stuff to friends and family that may need it and given stuff to Goodwill. We used to have 2 yard sales a year and I even took all that stuff to Goodwill. Guess what??? We found our basement and we were even able to place a pool table down there. I used the rule if you don't use it....lose it!!

So, are you saying that the two yard sales per year were not really worth it? They don't do well here, so I usually just take stuff to the Goodwill and give some of the better stuff to friends. I gave some old furniture, outdoor items and garage items to Freecyclers. Some people will take the weirdest things.

I live on one of the "main drags" thru town and would also ask my mom and mil to participate in the yard sale with me. I would make only about $50 with each sale. I would even ask my neighbors to have one at the same time so we could all benefit from one ad in the paper. Still we would not do very well. It is so much work that it is almost not worth it for as little as I make. So I just give stuff away and take to Goodwill and I do belong to our local Freecycle group.

Peter Walsh wrote a good book "It's All Too Much". I just finished reading it(rented it from the library but took notes). He gives good hints on purging & working through the emotional ties to clutter.

I also give to Goodwill/Vietnam Veterans/Freecycle. I have found that garage sales aren't worth the time & effort for the little bit of return. I do go to some but I am very careful in what I buy. I do not need more clutter!!
