It seems that I am always running from here to there looking for what I need. I constantly keep things I don't need worrying I will need them one day. How do you ladies get rid of clutter?
I am very successful with other people's homes, I own my own cleaning service, but I have trouble applying it to my life.

Go to www.flylady.net Follow her instructions for a "27 FlingBoogie," really....that's the name of it...and it works.
Also try and keep like with like...coffee cups near the coffe maker...baking supplies near the oven....things like that. It's taken me over 50 years to get into some sort of routine and habit...good luck.
When you finish your house, how about coming over and helping me finish up mine? I've got some loose ends I can't quite figure out what to do about, lol.
Have a good day!!

Sort the mail as it comes. Put the clothes away as they are folded. Make sure the kitchen is clean before bed. I try to run the dishwasher before I go to bed so that the next day I can load it as dishes are dirtied. Everyday bake and cooking utensils are in the cabinets and drawers right by the oven/range. About every six months, I sort through my baking cabinet to remove old and expired items. Spring and fall housecleaning become ruthless. If I haven't used it or missed it in a year, serious consideration is given to the need to have it. Many things have been donated to charity or disposed of this way, and never missed. I still have a not so perfect home, but I shudder to think what it would be like if I had kept everything.
I am a lot like you, I am afraid if I get rid of it I will need it at some later point....where does that come from? being frugal? a little I guess but I think I am permanently scared by my mom throwing away my Barbies and my brother's comic books, we would be millionaires now if only...

I have to add another happy vote for the FlyLady! After reading several comments of regret over possible loss or need for an item after it's gone I have to tell you that I have reorganized and decluttered my home ruthlessly in the past year. To be honest, of every 100 things I've gotten rid of I miss 1-2 of them. Is keeping all 100 worth decluttering the other 98? NO!! One of the quotes I read from the FlyLady said that either you own your things or they own you. I know from personal experience that freeing ones self from your things is difficult and means a change of thinking but it can be so freeing and makes life less stressful. I used to run around like the proverbial chicken w/o a head but now I actually get places on time. My friends are shocked!! Try spending a short period of time (15 minutes) decluttering and organizing a bad spot to start and see how it goes, you'll probably be surprised and it gets addicting!! Love from MN!!
