Sueanne - that is great that you had a good turnout and enjoyed the time spent together. This summer I noticed one street in our neighborhood was blocked off and there was a party going on. I think it would be a fun thing to do.

We only have a small tree in our front yard but get many leaves from others. I just rake them up. One neighbor has a big mower and he rides by and picks the ones up in the street and sometimes does the front sections of grass (between sidewalk and street). That is a very nice gesture from him. He uses the leaves as a mulch along his fence line. He gathers the leaves for several houses around his as he has lots of trees on his lot.

We don't have a club house..the only common ground is the lawn area out front where there are benches and you could gather..but rather noisy from the street traffic..even though it is at a much higher level...the only time I get together with anyone is once a month at the Board meetings ( I am on tbe Board)..we had tried having holiday gatherings but the turnout was always very poor....

I live right near the Club House & Indoor Pool so see everyone coming & going. Once a month they have Open House to meet your neighbors on Sunday afternoon about four o'clock. There is 650 homes but only about a hundred show up. Everyone brings a treat to eat.
Walking today there was a travel club meeting to see where they will go next. Everyone puts there input. This is a great place for Single older women. They meet on Saturday nights to go out together.
When Mom was younger she would dressup and go out with them.
I enjoy living here they are all so active & friendly.

I am also on the Resident's Committee in our Village. We have lots of get-togethers and outings - to places of interest, short holidays, luncheons and cinemas. We were to go to the Botanical Gardens today but as it snowed in the nearby hills yesterday and is still very cold we had to cancel. We have re-scheduled for 18th January, mid summer - it will probably be 40c. which is very hot - but there are lots of trees and we will find some shade. It would not be possible to find the warmth today!! lol Marj

The biggest feature of our Club House is the large olympic pool. There are swimming exercises every other day. I enjoy watching all the golf carts and bikes pulling up every morning. Even people with one leg swim every day. The pool is open all day for everyone to enjoy.

Sueanne those pools look so inviting.

Our neughbors are aXX's. They are nosey, mean, old, tattle-tailing unsocial people.

Got to go dh's home. I'll talk later.

Good night.

When we moved from Maine to Tn we were not sure how we would be accepted. We bought a little ranch out in the country and we have wonderful neighbors. It is a community that if one person needs help there is always someone there to help. It's a great feeling just like one big family.

I get along well enough with many people in our building. There is one neighbor that bugs me. We leave for work at the same time and he always smokes a cig in the elevator. yuk!

There are a few people in our Village that I do not know and others that I do not have much contact with. I am friendly with lots of them (180) and we often sit and have chat and a cuppa. We have lots of activities to attend if we choose too. No pressure!!
I would not like anyone smoking a cigar in the elevator, and as I don't like cigars, I would not like them too close to me at all. Marj

Sueanne, the pool looks so nice!

Our neighbors, that played loud music all hours of the night, had loud fights that included cursing, and had a trashed out place, got evicted! Whoo Hooo! This is just in time for Christmas as I won't have to explain to company about all the terrible noise.
