We've started going out to breakfast on Sunday mornings. The we sometimes take a drive to look at the scenery. We also take one evening a week where we turn off the tv and the computer and just veg. Sometimes we read, alone or to each other, play a board game, work a puzzle. Just some us time. It was awkward at first, even though we've been married 28 years. It's worth it, though. We talk more and seem to spend more cuddling time since we've decided to do this.

Hope this helps

Sharon

Hi Sharona,
Thanks for your fun ideas!! Isn't it funny how sometimes the most simple things can also be the most meaningful and romantic? I guess this is especially true for me since our time together really is so limited.
I like the idea of just spending the day together reading and watching videos and playing with our puppy...
or going on a picnic or country drive.
I guess my problem isn't so much lack of ideas but lack of time.
Congratulations to you on 28 years of marriage!!
Mark and I have been married for 11 years!!

peace,train

Hello there!

I know exactly what you mean! I personally think that "dating" our husbands is very important! Here are some of our "dates".

* take a camera and have a "photo-shoot". What ever tickles your fancy. Personally we love nature so, we take our pups and take pictures of the kids, the surroundings, eachother....well you get the picture! Drop the film at the "1-Hour" and grab a cup of coffee, (or whatever you like). Great special time

*Mountain evening drives! Order a pizza for carry out, swing by and grab it. Where we live there are oodles of deer!

*At a park place a tablecloth on a picnic table, have etched glasses ( you can do that yourself) and toast with "pepsi". Have chinese takeout, chocolate covered stawberries....watch the sunset.

*Make an early breakfast picnic complete with coffee, pasteries, fruit, and cheese. Watch the sunrise.

*If you like animals...volunteer at your local shelter walking pets and later split a banana split

*mini-golf challeange (or arcade) Penalty for looser. IE: He cooks or I wash cars

*Go to local farmer's market and get fruit....go home and make a special dessert.....Food fight???

*Rent a canoe on the lake, with camera and lunch in a waterproof container. Lunch, chicken corn soup, sandwiches and cookies ???/

*Bowling
*Concert
*Auction/yard sales
*Playground to play and be "kids" / play in the creek

-make a snowman at 3 am / share cocoa
-breakfast in bed
-30 days of sweet surprises
-re-new wedding vows in a special place or look at picture
-video game challange
-love notes around house in places he'll find
-play cards, dominos, yatzee

- Luau at home...build a fire ( we have a fire ring) and have soft music. serve pina coladas ( ours are virgin drinks) in 1/2 coconut shell. Have flower leisand roast pork with pinapple.

-Buy a box of children's valentines and write a different reason you love him on each one.

-Make a friendship bracelet with a note, "every good marriage is rooted in friendship"

-Have a "spa" ready when he gets home. Tub for soaking, massage complete with music and candles, have a hot meal that has been slow cooking, dine by candlelight, and finally watch a movie (his taste) while sharing popcorn.

Hope this gets you started!

With Valentine's Day tomorrow I thought I'd bump this thread...
I hope to "kidnap" my hubby and loose the kids for awhile.

I love all of the ideas. Thank you so much for sharing them.
Here are some of the things we do:

We like to watch a movie and eat a snack together after the kids go to bed.

Play games together...scrabble, cards, etc.

Take the boat out and have a picnic on the water.

Go for ice cream and take a drive.

Massages are always a good way to reconnect.

I leave him notes...by his coffee, in his briefcase, in the suitcase when he travels for work, in the truck

Surprise treats....a special candy bar, cookie, peanuts in his snack area

Cathy some great ideas

Now that my hubby has e-mail at work I often will just e-mail him an I love you or a looking forward to tonight quick note...keeps that spark iginited to know we are thinking of each other.

With my hubby being military we are always looking for things to help keep that spark going. Lately it has been that our oldest is now old enough to babysit so we are getting out more. Sometimes just going for a walk or to town without the kids can be a thrill. We also have been going to the theatre to see plays and such and are enjoying the time together. We know when those dates are and get excited just thinking of a night alone.

Hugs debbie
