What's for Dinner? Thread.
This is very basic and easy. I made it up this morning,
as I went, while trying to figure out "What's For
Dinner?". Guessed at the amounts I used for dry
soup mix, bacon bits, parsley and half & half. They
are fairly accurate approximations though (I don't feel
all recipes are an exact science - some you can just
"throw together"). You can use your own imagination
and change this recipe accordingly. You could use
cheddar cheese soup and serve with noodles and
broccoli, for instance.
Crockpot Shredded Chicken & Gravy
4 skinless/boneless chicken breast halves
2-10¾oz cans Campbell's cream of chicken soup (or
whatever flavor pleases you)
½ cup water
4-5 Tbsp. homemade dry onion soup mix*
2 Tbsp. real, crisped bacon bits
Fresh curly parsley
¼ cup half & half or other creamy ingredient you enjoy

Place first 5 ingredients in a crockpot. Cook on LOW for
4 hours. Carefully shred chicken breasts in the pot with
two forks. Should come apart easily. Stir in parsley and
half & half. If you want more "gravy", add more water or
half & half to desired consistency. Cook until heated
through. Serve over seasoned mashed potatoes with a
green vegetable. Serves 6-8.
