Since I'm originally from the South, I just wanted to check with ya'll to see if everybody's all right after Charley passed through. My mom, down in Sanford FL, still has no power, and it's not expected to be back on until tomorrow sometime. She's in Seminole County, just north of Orange County (where Orlando is,) and, on the hurricane satellite pics that we saw, the whole county was covered by the storm's eye when it went through! She was lucky; she'd just had a huge oak tree beside her driveway cut down the week before, or she'd probably have had problems with it during the storm. There's a jungly lot behind her house, and she has a lot of limbs and debris blown into her yard from there to clean up, and she lost a few small trees and plants. But the house wasn't damaged, thankfully. She and her gentleman rode the storm out in her bathroom! She's a FL native (me, too, of course, and I don't miss 'em at all!) so she's been through 'em before, but I've never been 3000 miles away from her when one's struck before, so I really worried this time. And, bless his heart, my DH, who's never been through a hurricane, was probably even more worried than I was about her.
So I hope everyone came through the storm(s) all right. Know that you're in my thoughts and prayers!

another Florida native??? me too!! My parents moved from NC to FL and then moved back to NC after having 4 kids, but I was already out of the house and married by then. We moved from FL to NC in 1992. Don't miss crowded FL, we were in Fort Lauderdale, always wanted to move to Palm Bay though or Disney World (actually the suburbs near by where Disney employees live) on Goofy Lane.
Hope your mom's doing OK after Charley now, also hope she's ready for Frances-although Frances isn't going to be quite as bad as originally but it'll be plenty bad enough.
I've got friends still in S. FL that won't be getting a great deal of it now, but it's still going to be devastating down there. I just can't believe the state is basically closed.
I'm keeping everyone in FL in my thoughts and prayers this weekend.
Take care
