Is there a local parade every year or annual festival or fair in your town? Are there any amusement parks or other tourist draws?
We have a Veterans Day and Christmas Fair. The "Great Kern County Fair" is every September. We have "Summer Concerts by the Fountain" and "Downtown Street Fairs" every May thru September. We have "Artisans Guild Fairs" (arts and crafts) twice a year. ....and lots of activities during the holidays!
As for tourist draws, Bakersfield is home to country music and Buck Owens "Crystal Palace" where he performs every weekend.
There's a lot here.
Mall of America
Valley Fair amusement park
St, Paul Winter Carnival
Minneapolis Aquatennial
Memorial Day festivities
Fourth of July parades and fireworks
The great Minnesota State Fair
Numerous casinos
Golf courses - many in every part of the state
Brainerd Lakes area - resorts, cabins - summer and winter
activities
Duluth harbor - large ships
The start of the Mississippi River
There is no amusement parks here. But we do have two golf courses. We have a balloon festival in October. The Pilgrimage goes on twice a year and the antebellum homes are open throughout the year. We have a Christmas parade, Mardi Gras, and St. Patrick's Day parade. The St. Patrick's Day Parade is a walking only parade. We have a mall but it isn't much. There are two old malls that don't have many stores left in them. There is a super Walmart here. Pretty dreary.
My home town of Merrill, OR celebrates the harvest each October with our annual Potato Festival.
The festival is pretty special to me, as four members of my family have participated or been honorred in it. Each year you have your run of the mill parade and craft booths, as well as judging of local potato crops and other misc. vegies, and the fun junk booths for the kids. But we also have a free Bar-B-Q for anyone who wants to partake, and the line usually runs an avaragege of two blocks. For a town lucky to claim a population of 1000 give or take, this is pretty special.
The only down side is I remember it, like all other things, being much BIGGER when I was a child.

From Bossier City, Louisiana we have Festivals year round. We have the Holiday in Dixie which includes an air show at Barksdale Air Force Base. Mudbug Madness, where you can eat all the boiled crawfish you want, which was just this weekend. The Revel, which celebrates the arts. Hey!! We're from the south, we have a festival for anything that calls for a good time!!
In North St. Paul, we have Crazy Days in June, usually the weekend after school gets out. There's the usual, food booths, crafts and other things for sale, a small ride area, the Lions do Bingo, various groups ie scouts and school clubs have fundraising booths, a free craft tent for kids, bingo, live music, and the kick off of the weekly antique car show. It's pretty fun!
Every Friday in the summer we have an antique car show in downtown North St. Paul. My 6yr old ds and I love to go to it. The only way I can convince dd age 11 is if I bribe her with a treat as there are usually a couple of food booths for the car show each week.
In the fall we have another festival, my mind is blank I can't remember the name of it. It's not as big as the spring one, but they do have a parade which is the highlight of the fall festival. Personally, I love small town parades. I love seeing the local kids in it and the unusual variety of floats, though I love any small town parade even if it's not my town.
We have a Christmas parade here where I live in Northern Arkansas. Nearby they have the Annual Turkey Trot Festival in Yellville, Arkansas, also they have pioneer Festival in Gassville, Arkansas during the year and a festival not far away in Cotter, Arkansas, near the White River there. Most of these events have parades involved too. There a lot of car show throughout the year in our area too. Also the t-bucket cars come to our area each year for a national thing in Mountain Home, Arkansas, so we see them every year when they are here.
