Leighann, I should buy stock in those tubs, lol!! I use them for everything.

Im probably going to end up using these like you do unless I can find a nicer-looking cheap fix.

I have been so disappointed in the yard sales here in NC. I HATE to buys things for full price unless I have to!!

Tammi,

I wanted to originaly do the "nice" basket look but for me the cost wasnt worth it. You can defintly tell that I have kids when you walk in...Besides I figure its just a stage while the kids are young! The adult look will come back someday for me though no hurry!

Sorry to hear your not enjoying garage sales there. Maybe since the weather is really hot there this time of year more people have them in the fall??? When the weather is still nice but not ultra hot!!! Do they have any good flea markets? I would suggest Target endcapping, they have so much more "upscale" merchandise there now that I bet still doesnt sell they go to endcaps fast there.

Gotta say that I feel kinda like you do...... I have kids and I dont want to hide the fact. We are very casual anyway. I just need something to get the toys off of the floor. LOL

I still like the idea of a bench if I can find one somewhere.

I'll stay on the lookout for something but in the meantime I think Im going to buy a couple more tubs. We also keep his cars in smaller tubs.

I just asked my DH about elevating my sons bed to make some storage space there. He said that we can do that with it costing hardly anything so I think that I'll do that so that he can store some stuff there too.

Purhaps you could make some box type footstools with the tops hindged and padded and use as storge boxes or toyboxes with the smaller toys. You could also take a coffee table and purchase or make bins or baskets with small wheels to store under the coffee table. Hope this gives you some ideas.

We bought an red plastic wagon from Toys R Us and

would dump all the toys into it. When it got time for company to

come it was easy to roll the wagon around and have the

kids help me put the toys away.

I just bought my big DS a footlocker to use for summer Boy Scout camp. A footlocker or trunk would be a great place to store toys in a common room! They come in lots of colors now, and many are rather nice looking. You can get them just about everywhere at this time of year (Walmart, Target, Linens & Things, etc). I got DS one made of heavy plastic, as "waterproof" was necessary for his camping situation, but a nice wooden one would be fine in your living room. Top it with a nice throw or tray and use it for a "coffee table" or extra seating when you have guests.
