I use newspaper in the veggie bins in the refrigerator to catch any mess instead of using paper towels.

I also tear the paper into 2inch strips and mulch around plants in the garden and leave the paper whole in the pathways so I'm walking on paper keep shoes cleaner.

i use them in the garden , about 3-4 layers thick then straw on top to hold papers down. It stays cooler underneath so n hot weather plants dont fry and absorbs water and keeps plants hydrated better, of course less weeds is a bonus too !!

Lisa, DH and I are going to be doing this in the veggie garden this year. Our main goal is to keep the weeds down, but keeping the plants from drying out is great!

Our local animal shelter takes papers for recycling. They used the newsprinted pages to open and lie in the cages of the cats and dogs. They shred the colored ads and the coupons. I was taking them free cat and dog food that I got with coupons in return for new coupons. I haven't been able to do that lately.

used them for packing breakable stuff away

I have used them when I have peeled vegs, would lay the paper down to catch the peelings to throw away.

to line cat liner box before putting in the cat litter

to lay under craft projects especially if I am going to be painting or using glitter
or to lay under a the kid's project make cleanup a lot easier

Have laid them down under a kid's high chair to catch thier mess, which makes clean up alot easier

I use newspaper in my garden. I lay 4 layers deep around each plant and cover w straw to keep weeds away. I also use newspaper to line bottoms of flower pots w drainage holes. It takes a season to break down with regular waterings.

Back when I lived in the Midwest, I use to use the *news fliers* to see in the crawl-space under our house, especially when the electricity would turn off due to heavy weather activity. In the past I use to shred it and use it in the tray of my rabbit, rats, and Guinea Pig cages...and the parakeet cage. Now a days when I have some printed news-papers/fliers about and I know my younger niece and nephew will be w/me for long periods of the day, I use it under arts / craft projects and the floor around these activities - great for use w/ *real* silly putty too.
