Wow I've never heard of this before, wish we had access to it.

Sammi

You bring up a excellant point. I have started stocking up on those items a month or so ago. Krogers had the generic of Robituson on sale for $2 a bottle. Being diabetic and having High Blood Pressure I bought 2 bottles. Dh though who has the same issues still sticks with Nyquil and has lived to tell about it so I bought him a bottle this week as well. I still need to get some diet 7Up to keep on hand. I got a really bad cold bug this past winter, the week after New Years Eve.. bad time, got my tooth pulled New Years Eve weekend (Friday) then got sick with the cold within days of that. We were fortunate to have homemade chicken and noodles in the deep freezer but I will make sure this year to have some cans of chicken soup put up just in case. And don't forget everyone.. make sure you have plenty of toilet paper stocked up too, LOL! That would be another bad thing not to have when you are sick, make sure things you depend on you have stocked up during the cold and flu season.

Btw, I had the flu shot last year too as did dh.. still didn't help with the regular ole nasty cold season.

Anna - I stopped taking the flu shot years ago. Mom and I worked on a military base and got the flu shots free. It only gave us a bad case of the flu. I only had one bad case of the flu since 1975.
To keep colds at bay, I found that the dishwasher sure helped keep the germs down. Also, the chicken soup is good at the first sign of a cold as are Vit. C. tablets, orange juice, and hot tea. In my opinion, the new hand sanitizer is not taking the germs away but you are just rubbing them into your hands. When I worked in the military hospital, and the doctors used soap for "scrubbing up" prior to an operation, we had a much lower infection rate than they have today. I can't stand the smell of hand sanitizer with my allergies, so another reason not to use it.
I found that keeping the house at a cooler temperature also helped keep colds down.
I hope you all stay well this winter. Although I'm retired, I say I'm too busy to be sick.

I think one of the most important things that most people forget is to keep your house clean! Especially your kitchen! And that doesn't mean using chemical-laden products that can even make things worse. I like all natural products.

Have any of you used the Fuller Brush? That's what I use and my kids and I never get sick (maybe once every two years or so).

Check it out :

Gosh I had no idea Fuller Brush Company was still around. Unless it is a diff company, my Mom used a lot of their brushes hair scrubbing etc.
Blondie I have not had any Bronchitis nor even a bad cold since I started getting the flu shots.
Good nite all

I can't take the flu shot either Blondie. Gives me a terrible case of the flu every time I've had one. The docs even tell me now not to take one. My great niece and great nephew both had flu shots and within 3 weeks they both had the flu this year. The pharmacists told my niece that the flu shots weren't working too well this year.
Hugs, Paula

Yep that flu season is definitely here in AZ (anyway). Last year DH and I received a mandatory flu shot (it was mandatory via his CO, not our Dr.'s.)...Unfortunately I would prefer to have the head and chest flu over the stomach flu, b/c you can take meds to help alleviate the "flu" symptoms, drink fluids to keep from being dehydrated, and eat food or food like substances during the down time. Where as with the stomach flu, you have to wait for it to run its course, and with some folks (my DH included) the stomach flu can be very severe in its course running, where as myself the course flow is less severe, and yet the food/fluid recovery can be quicker (as was w/DH), or longer to take in (as with myself). Also, some folks risk other upper respiratory infections when experiencing the stomach flu, more so than with the regular flu (but just as likely).
I Love the BRAT recipes exchanged...my DH had four (4) Saltine crackers, white rice (which I can't eat on a good day), Peanut-butter Toast, Grape flavored Propel water, and several glasses of regular 7-up w/ice-cubes...Finally being healthy enough to enjoy the spaghetti dinner I wanted when the Stomach flu struck me, at this very moment I am finally having my third (real) meal since Tuesday early evening. The first solids were five (5) saltine crackers; a bag full of regular cheerios (no milk); and my long awaited spaghetti, and lots of regular 7-UP. Breakfast was Peanut-butter toast, and now are sugar-free (splenda) strawberry slices, and a 24 oz cup of Chamomile tea. Ironically on Wednesday, and Thursday I was driven to clean and disinfect every inch of my house I could possibly cover...in shifts, cause I slept allot, and it takes allot from me to stay awake even now just so I will sleep all night tonight. I know most of it is the lack of nutrients, but the day isn't over yet.

Wow that stomach flu really does a number on you and hubby. I wash my hands more now than I ever did and washed them a lot then. But hoping/praying I don't get the stomach flu. Stay well all
