I have to say, smoothies are my kids favorite healthy summertime snacks as well, but other things that my kids (ages 8 and 4) like are frozen blueberries with a little bit of sugar or honey on them (from frozen fruit section of grocery store or freeze your own), frozen bananas (especially when they are dipped in yogurt before freezing), making popsicles from yogurt, pudding or juice (V-8 splash is an excellent source of vitamins and minerals (though not 100% juice, but still healthy), celery or cored apples with peanut butter in them(or substitute if allergic to peanut butter/nuts)...can add raisins, dried cherries or marshmallows to the tops for fun and added flavor, and muffins are always a treat as well. Another treat that the kids like all year round is homemade granola (you can make it without adding nuts--lots of recipes for it on the internet. The kids can make their own personal bags...great activity for the kids as well as nutritious). Of course, just about anything is good as long as you have something to dip it in...whether it be a ranch dressing or vegetable dip for veggies, or a fruit dip, peanut butter, honey or jelly for dipping fruit or crackers in, it's sure to be a snack winner. One more fun snack...if plain veggies are "boring", roll them up in a tortilla with some cream cheese and serve as is, or slice them up--they are fun to eat (other options in tortillas are fruit and honey in cream cheese, or peanut butter and jelly...ideas are almost endless!). I hope that some of these ideas work for you as well as they work for me!
