Neuchatel is that light in calories and fat version of cream cheese. I think it has 1/3 less of each. It is also softer to spread.
Lebanon bologna is a spicy beef bologna. I think it tastes like another product called summer sausage. I don't like it (bad memory) ever since the kid in my 4th grade that picked his nose would eat it at lunch everyday. But my dh and kids love it.

Ellen, do you think neuchatel would bake and "melt" like the low fat version of cream cheese? I tried to make cream cheese with low fat cream cheese and they turned out terribly. Do you think neuchatel would bake similarly?
I know what you mean by food and memories. Those sights and smells from childhood are stong aren't they? My mil hates grape juice because her mother gave it to her when she was ill so it reminds her of being sick. I LOVE Welch's grape juice because my Nana always had a little 3-pack of bottles of it as well as ice cold bottles of Coca Cola for us grandkids when we were little. So the sight and smell of it reminds me of my wonderful visits to Nana and Goggy's house.
I will have to look out for Lebanon balogna to taste.
DeBora, Lebanon bologna is a large, very dark type of bologna. I wonder if it is called a different name in other parts of the country?
Both kids are back at school today. And DH brought lunch. He has leftovers from last night's dinner "sort of strognaoff" with the last of the Christmas roast.
The kids have PBJ since I had no sandwich meat in the house. They also both have pudding and a drink. DD has an apple, cheese curls and chocolate pretzels. Big DS has a granola bar, pretzels and brownie.
Todays lunches are turkey & cheddar on whole wheat bread, pringles, fruit cup, cheese stick, yogurt, a chocolate drizzle special K bar, and Sunny Delite for a drink. After making all the lunches, ds2 tells me he isn't feeling well so stayed home from school. I think he is just over tired from the holidays. Will save all of his lunch except the sandwich for tomorrow.
Barb, you got my curiousity up so I looked up Lebanon Bologna on the Internet. lol Now I see why you are familiar with it. lol Now I am wondering whether or not I can even get it here in local markets?
I am getting excited about learning some more lunch ideas here. Just hearing the word "bologna" has be craving fried bologna. lol
My mom used to make fried bologna for me for breakfast. I tried a good brand at Wegman's and it was delicious but now I couldn't really like Osc. Meyer's anymore.
Today's packed lunch was huge: white roll with mayo and green leaf lettuce and a sprinkle of italian dressing and roasted red peppers and bacon and fontina cheese; applesauce; angel cookies; lemonade; port wine cheddar cheese and saltines and a wedge of swiss cheese spread lite; and carrots.
DH got the same and also a bagel, lox, and cream cheese and chive sandwich which was breakfast. The kids traded breakfast for lunch because they don't want 'fish breath' at school, ha ha! also, some fresh squeezed OJ.
