I'm behind! Friday's lunch was PBJ on whole wheat, pumpkin cookie, iced tea, mandarin oranges for one and apple for another. The odwalla bars were only a hit with me so need to find another energy bar....

The boys are having peanut butter sandwiches with home made muesli slice, and a container of carrot sticks, cheese cubes, baby corns and green beans. Ones taking milk drink and the other a cordial. DS1 is also taking an extra vegemite sandwich.

I did Barbszy's trick of putting boiling water into the thermos and sent in meat vegetable soup with cheese and Ritz crackers, seckle pears, orange juice, applesauce and cookies.

DD1 texted me on her cell and asked for more food to get her through her last class of the day, a test, so I drove in a cheese, mustard, and lettuce sandwich, some choc chip cookies, water bottle, and banana. She was grateful.

Little maybe 2 inches long by 1 1/2 inches round, hard pears with a green skin. They are crunchy and sweet and turn soft fast. My mil has a tree in her yard. DH takes them in the woods to crunch on when hiking and all. Well, ours are green at least.

Seckle (Honey pear)- A small, reddish-brown skinned pear that is crisp fleshed, very sweet, juicy, perfumed, with very distinctive flavor. It can be confidently fully ripened on the tree without becoming soft and brown in the middle, although it is not a good keeper once mature. The tree is vigorous and very productive and reliable. It is also somewhat self fertile.

Color plate from the book 'The Pears of New York' by U. P. Hedrick, published by the New York Agricultural Experiment Station in 1921, and scanned in by the US Department of Agriculture National Clonal Germplasm Repository at Corvallis, Oregon

DD took salami/cream cheese rollups, pumpkin cookie, cheese stick and water. DS was off and will be again tomorrow. She has requested a crunch peanut butter sandwich for today.

Thanks Ellen. My Mom has a Bartlett pear tree and this year we were up to our eye balls in them. I am glad that the cherry tree doesn't produce at the same time as the pears.

Today's lunch will be turkey with cheese sandwiches, potatoe chips, apple slices and milk.

So many good ideas!

Today's lunch was chicken salad sandwiches with salad greens on it, seckel pear, kiwi banana orange juice, and a tube shaped peanut butter cookie that a Chinese friend gave me that she got from a Japanese friend. It was really crisp and good. DD1 also got some sliced roll and tomato basil cheese slices for a snack before physics (that last period class that drags so long when your tummy wants a snack).
