Dealing with Son Who Can't Get a Job!

Karen, I thought of something else. Have your DS write and request to make very small payments until he gets on his feet. Many times, they will allow him to do such a thing if he can prove he is trying.

I too know where you are coming from. I made so many mistakes helping my son but at that time I was having sleep problems and he was living out of state and i didn't know that he was still using. My heart goes out to you as my heart is broken b/c my son has been in jail for 10months and is still waiting for his day. I wish he had a large room, no, the rooms are just like they are called, a cell, small and cold. This time, he has finally cried out to God for help and is now reading and studying his Bible that the chaplain gave him. He finally knows that there is no where to go except to put his trust in God for deliverance. He is where God needed him to be, to get his attention and now He's got it. Things are looking up for him now and I feel so much better myself because I finally gave him to God. Moms always think that they know what's best but God knows better.

I know this suggestion doesn't help with getting a job but if he was able to get help with food (food banks, food stamps, etc.) and utilities (HEAP, Community Action) the money saved could be sent to pay off the court costs.

Just an idea;

But could he apply for a PELL Grant for college and take some of the money from the grant to pay his fines off? Maybe it's too late for this. But, it might be worth a try. Wishing you and your son luck with everything.
