What's for Today's Packed Lunch, November 2006

Well, here we go for November 2006. Put your lunch ideas here, will they involve leftover Halloween Candy?

I always let my kids put ONE piece of Halloween candy in their lunch. Usually they also get packs of cookies, crackers, chips or pretzels, and they may put that in their lunch as well. Since DD has to bring a snack, she'll do that.

For tomorrow's lunch they will have roast beef on kaiser rolls. Apple or applesauce for fruit.

Oh, I love this thread! I have to pack my lunch 4 days a week and am always looking for ideas. It can really get boring sometimes. Especially if you don't have much time to eat!

I love this icon!

I read these posts for lunches and realize I am in a lunch rut! I love getting the new ideas here. Ellen, right now chicken salad is sounding good. Think I will try that tomorrow and see what the dks think.

Here's a question I'd like to throw out there:

When you pack your kids' lunch, do you ask them what they want, or do you just pack it and hope they eat it?

Barb, I just pack it and hope they eat it but I do know what my kids like so sort of pack accordingly. Like my youngest ds will eat the yogurt tubes you squeeze but my older ds won't. My oldest ds likes pear fruit cups only but my youngest ds will eat any kind of fruit cup. Youngest ds hates egg salad, oldest loves it. Sometimes that means making two different kinds of sandwiches. My dh eats whatever sandwich I make as he is so grateful I make him a sandwich anyway! LOL

Today's lunches are ham & cheese on whole grain bread, yogurt, fruit cup, banana (youngest ds), pretzels & cheese (oldest ds), pringles, cheese stick (youngest ds), orange juice, and a special K peach bar

Same here Sammi. My recent surprise is that both dh and dd2 said they 'hate' pears. Oh well. So I sliced some pears and put them in apple cider and they ate that.

Today's packed lunch was pbj, tangelo, fruit drink (grape or peach apple white grape), carrot sticks, water, and a cupcake with no icing (Halloween candy last night!). Oh yeah, I slipped one of those mini wax wrapped cheeses into one of the lunches (mini Bonbel or something?).

I am so glad for all the inputs on this thread! It is so helpful to get so many ideas and reminders to get us out of our packed lunch rut! thanks everyone!!

Using the hot water trick for preheating a thermos, the dds had beef vegetable soup, peanut butter crackers, applesauce, white grape peach juice, and water.

Both dds confessed to missing lunch, one due to a physics lab and the other had to make up a test during her lunch period. But dd1 had pizza the period before in a class and dd2 had similar so they had their lunches before lacrosse practice. Surprisingly they also shared a sandwich after lacrosse practice, the one that I sent dd2 out the door with this morning (egg, cheese, canadian bacon on white bread). Well, at least they eat.

Peanut butter sandwich cornflake and honey cereal bar ds2.
Vegemite sandwich a jam on fruitloaf sandwich,a cornflacke and honey cereal bar ds1.
Drinks for both and they took a few bullets (choc coated licorice an inch long) for treats, we opened the packet last night.

DD ordered the Garden Salad for school lunch today.

Big DS has a tuna sandwich on a roll, applesauce, a drink, pretzels, granola bar, peanut butter crackers and a few chocolate-dipped pretzels.
