If your ds room is stuffy at night leave the window open to let air in then when you go to bed close it.
We don't have air con either but coming out of winter, and spring is here now there is also the pollens to contend with sort of making it asthma/allergy combined, the ventolin still helps.
Don't ask me how but windy days sets him off as well, could be the extra dirt and dust, little things I'm sure you'll be looking out for.
Asthama, eczema, reflux and allergies all go hand in hand.
Since that earlier trip south we have been again to the snow, yet playing in the snow (was not super cold but cold enough) did not set him off but going up the mountains and down again did, it was the drop in air temps, weird. LOL
I too have had a dry cough for over a month. I notice when I drink more water the dry cough becomes "productive". Perhaps Riley would benefit from drinking more water.

I don't know it this will help your situration. Years ago.... My baby is now 31. I had a Navy Ped, who would NEVER prescribe cough syrup. He said 50/50 mixture of honey and lemon juice. Honey to sooth and lemon juice to cut the phlem. I use to keep a jar in the refrig for years (I had 4 kids). It worked and saved lot's of $$$. A dry cough? I am not sure if this would work, but hay, it won't cost you an arm or leg if it doesn't. Hope the little one gets better soon, so you all get a good nights rest.

Having children is like being pecked to death by a duck!
Ok so Riley's school called y'day cos he had a very high temp along with the cough, I brought him home, gave him nurofen and he slept a few hours then woke up right as rain. Last night he slept great and woke up asking to go to school this morning! After we had gotten over the shock of him wanting to go to school my oh and i had a chat about Riley. OH thinks that maybe he is run down because there have been a lot of changes in our house - both boys at school, me working, weather changing etc. I tend to agree. Riley, like me, is a creature of habit and I think his little sstem was really knocked for 6 with the changes in routine.
I do think he does not drink enough water so I will encourage him to do that more, thanks Sonya.
I will also make up the honey/lemon prep to keep in the fridge, worth a try eh? Thanks Navy wife .
Also, Bilby, Riley does have a little eczema and with the rhinitis it seems like he is going to have these issues
Good for Riley, sometimes it's a matter of hearing others thoughts so that you can ask questions of people in the know,
knowledge can only help you. In a busy move it's easy to overlook the little thing,s but looks like you've sorted it
....... live and learn is my motto LOL Cheers
