I want to inform everyone about a K9 police officer who kept his canine partner in his vehicle for 12 hours in the middle of August!!! Of course, the dog died. Keep in mind that not only was this in the middle of August, but it was in Arizona, where it is extremely hot! Instead of a proper pomp and circumstance burial ceremony for a police officer, they buried him pirvately. Here is a link to the story. Here is the email to the police station if you want to let them know how you feel about them not honoring a fallen hero who died at the hands of one of their own or if you just want to make inquiries. Their phone number is: 1.800.352.4553, which I obtained directly from their their web site I personally want to know whether or not they are going to arrest this officer for animal cruelty and why they aren't going to give this dog the same respect as any other officer, human or animal.
My understanding is that he is on administrative leave until the investigation is complete. I hope he is fired and never to be in charge of an animal again, especially a highly trained, expensive, loyal one.
That is beyond horrible...how can someone who is suppose to protect everyone do that to his dog,his partner...its disgusting and I hope he is fired and never allowed to be around animals again...

RSPCA would have him up on charges for that as it's an offence for any member of the puclic to leave a dog in the car.
It's not the dogs fault, he should get an honourable burial.
The officer was arrested! He was arrested on Wednesday on the lesser charges, which really ticks me off! But, the story tells it all.
Get this--he has returned to work!!!!! Also,he was on PAID administrator leave while they investigated the situation. He went out on an assignment and didn't get home with the dog until 9:15am, at which point he left the dog in the car. He did some things with his DD and then his DS was in an auto accident and he took some insurance documents to him. (Don't police expect US to have our documents WITH us in the car when WE get into a wreck or get pulled over?) Then, he came home to take a nap and eat. He said he honestly forgot.
My BIGGEST gripe is that this department would not have taken this so lightly if Joe Blow citizen had done the very same thing with the same reasons.
How sad. This story is heartbreaking. The Officer needs to spend some time in Tent City. You are so right. The average citizen would get time - time - and more time...
I can't believe that!! What a stupid cop! If a regular citizen would have done that we would have been brought up on charges and fined heavily! He should be made to pay for a new K9 and not EVER be allowed to have a dog, either personally or professionally. He should also be charged for an honorable burial for the dog. If the dog had been killed in the line of duty he would be buried with honors and this is no different! In fact, it's worse. He was killed by someone that he knew and trusted!
I am still angry about this. I find it shocking that this department would PAY this officer on leave while he recklessly caused the tragic death of his K-9 partner! Then, after his arrest, they allow him to work!!! The worst he could get is $1,000 fine and up to 6 months in jail--that is IF he gets the full penalty!!! Is that all this poor animal is worth after all the training he went through, the obedience, and dying in the torturous heat?
This time, the theme is going to be autumn/Halloween so your stories need to use smilies to express as many words as possible and your story should be focused on anything that has to do with autumn or Halloween.
