Hee hee Newbie

Hi, my name is Monica. I am a soon to be step-mom to a 10 year old girl and a 6 and 2 year old boys. I got on this website for some helpful tips to help me get through this transition. I have taught Kindergarten for the past 9 years so am very familiar with young kids, just not used to living with them and helping to raise them. We are a sports family and now that it is snowing, we will be playing outside a lot

Good morning Monica, I too like your name. I have a wonderful step son (tho' neither of us use that term for us) but I "inherited" him just after he turned 18 so did not have him during the younger years he lost his dear mom when he was a month shy of 14. We just clicked which I am very thankful for. He and fam live in Baltimore, MD and I live in VA so do not get to see each other that often but we did yesterday at a special service little over an hour from here and about 2 hours from where he lives. So that was a blessing.
I have 5 children total and 6 grands and 3 greats. One grand lives here with me his Mom and Step dad and little bro live across the street from us. So that gives me 2 closeby. Older one Adam will be 21 in Jan and younger one was 11 in Sept. They are Adam and Steven. I love reading and feeding my outdoor birds. I have a parakeet Petey have had him almost 3 yrs now. Adam has 2 little pugs here 4 yr old Panda and 5 month old Koda not mom & son.
Well I have rattled enough on here. Good luck and congrats on upcoming marriage

Hello Megan, it good to see you again

Welcome Monica,
the biggest fear you have about being a step mom is the fear it self. you will do just fine, just love them, treat them fairly which I know you will, and love thier daddy. For some step kids they just need to know you either going to be a mom, or either not take over being thier mom, depends on where they are with thier mom.

take it one day at a time.

When is the blessed day for you and your soon to be husband, the daddy of these kids that will soon be yours?
Congrulations on the upcoming marriage.

Will you be including them in the wedding?
I've seen where the kids and mates does a joining of togetherness at wedding, either with candles, or sand. Beautiful, and the kids loves it to know that they were included.

My daughter's husband is a step dad, and I was raised with a step dad, and so were my kids.
I'm a mom of step kids but they were much older. In fact the step daughter is only 7 yrs younger than I am. LOL, and her brother is 8 yrs younger.

Again you will do fine.
and Welcome to Fc,

Welcome to other newcomers that I may not have welcome you yet.

FC is a great site, and you will met some of the nicest women around. Helpful, and friendly..
