Any others from Ontario??

Hi there

I'm fairly new to the boards and thought I would see if there are any others from Ontario. If so what part.......Eastern, Southern???

Do you know of any great places that maybe we've never heard of???

I am in Beachburg about 1 3/4 hours from Ottawa. Not everyone Knows that Beachburg is known for whitewater rafting on the Ottawa river. we have 3 compnies in our area.

Looking forward to meeting some others from this great province

Keep smiling

Ontario

Hi Deb! It looks like no one is here from Ontario but us. I live in Toronto and have not been on these boards for a while but have been enjoying the newsletter from this site. We are getting some snow today! What is it like your way? Lorraine.

Hi Lorraine!!

Nice to meet anouther from ontario!!! It just started snowing about 15 minutes ago. it is starting to get thicker quite fast. I just hope we don't get the freezing rain!!!

We travel to toronto a few times a year, I have an aunt who lives there and we go for some karate events. I had a great aunt who lived there also but she passed away this fall. My aunt lives in the downtown area off of river st. When we go we usually stay at the holiday Inn on the don valley, although I think it is no longer a holiday inn.

Have you ever been up this way?? My hubby is with the military base in petawawa but we live here in the country to get away from the base living. I have 3 kids 10, 8, and 6. and run a home daycare.

Well gotta run

Hugs
Debbie

Hi Deb - We ended up not get any snow. During the afternoon the rain changed to snow but it only last a few minutes - when I wrote my email - then it changed back to rain. How much snow did you end up with? Very cold wind here now.

3 young children and a home day care! You are busy! My children are 21 and 18 but still at home as they are still in school.

I am in the south west of Toronto and not sure where River street is but maybe near Cabbagetown? That is a beautiful area.

We have only been to the Ottawa area a couple of times. We loved it but don't do a lot of driving now as dh has back problems which makes long drives painful for him.

take care!
Lorraine.

Hi Lorraine,

Well we did get snow, i would say it snowed from a bout 4pm till 1 am. So we did get quite a bit. Enough to make it a morning where we needed to get up earlier to warm and scrape cars off. All the kids are thriled to see the snow though. Can't say that i am, i am a bit of a wimp when it comes to the white stuff. My father was military(airforce pilot) and most of my years were apent on Vancouver Island growing up, so we did not get a lot ofd snow. I'm still nervous when driving in it.

We go to Ottawa about twice a month......it is about 1 1/2 hours west of here. We live in a rural community along the Ottawa River. We are known for white water rafting here.

Yes I am a very busy mom, the 3 kids and I also train in martial arts 4 times a week so it keeps us busy. My son ryan(10) is a brown belt, Son Jamie(8) is a blue belt, daughter paige(6) is an orange belt and I am a yellow belt. The boys and I also just started weapons they are red belts and i am white.

Well must be off
Hugs
Debbie

Hi Deb,

I must be losing it - I thought I replied to your message from yesterday - lol!

I just noticed that my previous posts are not showing up. I have to figure out how to get them added on.

Very bitterly cold here today with a dusting of snow.

It must be great to have your whole family in martial arts! Each of us in my family have different interests.

I have heard of white water rafting near Ottawa but never knew just where. Is that something you like also? I am a big chicken and it is not a sport I want to try. I would be clinging on and screaming the whole way!

take care - time to drive dd to catch her bus!
Lorraine.

Good morning Lorraine,

The snow stopped last night, and now this morning it is just really cold!!! They say temp is suppossed to go to +9 this weekend!!!!

I really enjoy that I can do something with my kids, I don't know that my daughter will stay with it in years to come but my oldest son and I really enjoy it. my middle son loves the weapons classes.

I'm not very adventurous when it comes to White water rafting. We have done the family rafting on the Madawaska and that was good enough for me. We have taken family members who have come to visit on that ride too. My 10 year old son went down the main rapids this summer with some friends and loved it. Of course I was in panic mode the whole time......waiting for him to return home, He got some great photos from his trip. They also have bungee jumping at one of the compnaies, we will take our boat out and sit and watch them jump...but it is not for me!!!

Well hope you have a great day

hugs
Debbie

Hey Lorraine

here is a pic of my son rafting this summer with his friends. He is the second from the front on the left side.

So what are your kids interests?? And yours?? My boys take piano and all 3 love soccer in the summer. They also love swimming and take lessons during the winter months. My daughter paige goes to a french public school(no english), the boys go to english public school.

I love to do read when I have time and I have been scrapbooking this past year. I love cross stitch and sewing but have little time for them right now.

Hope you have a great day

Hugs Debbie

Great picture of your son and his friends! Must have been a total blast for them.
My son and daughter like hockey. They were both in leagues for years. My son still plays roller blade street hockey with friends and they set up their own mini-league in the summer. He is now in second year of Creative Photography in college.
My daughter has graduated from grade 12 but has gone back to high school for additional credits.
I worked in a cross-stitch store for over 10 years. I still have enough patterns and supplies to last me for 3 or 4 lifetimes! I don't stitch so much now but am doing some traditional rug-hooking. I have dabbled in scrapbooking, I love the idea of it but haven't settled down to really get going with it.
We are much milder here today and supposed to reach +9 also.
Have a great weekend!

Hi Lorraine

My boys played hockey for awhile but with martial arts it was too much so they had to make a choice and they chose karate.

It is mild here today but it is snowing on and off. The streets are just glare ice!!!! Yuk!

Just got back from 2 hours of cardio and sparring at martial arts so I'm bushed, off to have a shower then into house work.

That is neat that you worked in a cross stitch store, a few years back I would have been in heaven ...now it would be to work in a scrapbookstore. I was at a workshop last night and will go to anouther tonight.

Well gotta run

Have a great weekend

Hugs
