The Food Network

I really enjoy watching Rachael Ray's show's on the Food Network. One show she does is on how to prepare a meal in 30 minutes and the other is called "$40.00 a Day. On this show she has a $40 budget to spend on all three meals while sightseeing in different parts of the US.......kind of a restaurant and sightseeing show in one! A couple times she was in places my husband and I have vacationed and that was cool to see the very sidewalks we had walked down!!
How she stays so skinny though with all the food she eats I do not know!! Must have killer metabolism!!

I also like Ina Garten, "The Barefoot Contessa." I very much like her ideas of entertaining and keeping it simple.

Entertaining with Katie Brown is another show I like but I cannot remember which channel she is on.

Anyone watch any of these or other cooking/entertaining shows?

peace,train

I enjoy watching Rachael Ray's "30 Minute Meals." That's my favorite cooking show. The other one I like is Alton Brown's "Good Eats." He makes it interesting with the science behind cooking.

I also like Racheal Rays 30 minute meals, I recently got her cookbook out of the library. Mind you though I never have been able to cook one of her meals in under 45 minutes lol!
My other favorite "food network" show is unwrapped, its such a cool show to see how all different kinds of foods are made.
I like Nigella Bites, I used to watch on Saturday mornings on the E channel but have not seen in a very long time. The other best part of her is she is not pencil thin, not obese but looks to enjoy what she cooks. Dh says Racheal Ray probaly takes a bite or 2 of everything and feeds the rest to her crew or she would be big as a house. I think she probaly just works out a lot.
My old hairdressers bil is one of the members of a show called the melting pot on Food network, she says they go to Ny every few months and tape a few shows for about a week and come home again. He owns a poplular restraunt here in Cleveland, Michael Simon for any of you who may have caught that show. To be honest though thats another one that I am not sure if it is still on.

Yes, I do get the Style Network!! I will look for her show!! It's weird, there are a good many channels I get but they are not listed in the TV book so I never know what is coming on when!!
But I did catch a snippet of her show one time and it looked like a really good show!!

Train, if you have an excite account (which you never have to check the email once you sign up) you can set up the webpage to remember you, and it will show your TV listings! It's a great feature and it shows all the channels that you get.

We don't get any of those foodie shows that have been mentioned, except Nigela Bites. I find her food very rich with lots of calories. I prefer Jamie Oliver.
If we had cable it may be a different story.

Hmmm, I've heard a lot about this Jamie Oliver guy. I'll have to check out his show!

My 12 year old DS has begun to enjoy "Good Eats" since it appeals to his interest in science. He likes to cook, too.....I have to remember that even though I love cooking and want to do it myself, I need to let him do some cooking things! After all, my function in life is to make myself obsolete, in a way. I want all my children to learn to cook basic, healthy foods (and some fun stuff) and to do normal household chores by the time they hit college age.

Jamie Oliver has a bit of a lisp that is a little off putting for a person who does public speaking. I have 3 of his books and find them easy to follow. DS1 (13yrs) actually watches what he does and has tried a couple of his recipes.
Maybe we should get our boys together to let them cook us up a storm
