Has anyone heard of this site?? If you have..you could be a "georger"!! What dare say is a "georger"????

To make it simple....it is someone who likes to enter the serial number and date of issue of US paper money and a short note about where they got the bill and it's condition into the system on the site www.wheresgeorge.com and then they write or stamp the web address onto the bills and spend, spend, spend!! The idea is to have someone else enter the same serial number and date of your bill into the sytem also and you get what is called a "hit". The more hits you get--the higher your "george" rating is.

It's fun and can be very addictive!! My DH actually hides money from me so I can't find it to stamp!!

I just entered my 250th bill and have 14 hits--including one from RI and one from NY!! (I live in PA)

So!! If any of you out there are fellow "georgers" or would like more info...please post here. I'd love to get together!!

I have been a member here for at least 3 years maybe more. I havent checked in on the site for about a year ( forgot about it!

) In all this time, Ive only gotten one bill that had anything stamped on it.

The bad thing about this is that you are defacing money when you stamp on them, right? Oh well, everything cant be perfect.

One of my Dh's buddies actually gets a big portion of his paycheck in one dollar bills so that he can register them.

I think the one I checked on had been in NY and somewhere else.

Think Ill check into now. Thanks for reminding me about it!

Hope to get one of yours someday.....wouldnt that be weird, LOL!!

That sounds like fun!!! I am going to check the site out as soon as I get a chance. Maybe we will all see money from each other. Probably very likely because we are all three from PA.

I've tried 3 times to post back but my computer is still messed up--twice I wrote a post and the computer froze before I could send it and once the site said I wasn't logged on and deleted everything--

I'm at work now and I'm going to try again!!! :mad:

ajrsmom--what are you stats??? Have you gotten readdicted yet?? I found my first (and only) stamped bill in some change that I got from somewhere--I entered it on site and instantly became hooked. Such a "cheap" hobby--except for the stamp--you spend no more money than you normally would!!

As far as defacing the money--I read that as long as what you do does not effect the way the money is spent--there isn't a problem--in fact-"wheresgeorge" has been featured in several magazines so if there really was an issue I don't think they would have one that--I've never heard of anyone having any trouble...

Gotta go back to work--keep me posted.....

I have been to this site to check a bill I had received, it is fun & very interesting to see where our money gets to. It would be more fun if the bills had a tracking cookie or something to show you a dotted line on a map of where it went between posts, wouldn't it?

Yes--that would be a great idea!! I guess we just have to rely on someone being curious enough to post to the site tho.....

I just when to Abington (near Aberdeen), Maryland with about $300.00 worth of marked bills...spent them in Abington of course, went to Baltimore-Inner Harbor, and down to Washington D.C. spending them all the way--also along the Turnpike over and back.---Can't wait to see if any of the get posted!!

I don't have any one dollar bills in my purse right now!

That's what happens when you have to give your DS a dollar everyday to buy lunch!
