I am making a small corner in the living room (I have only lived in our current house 3 weeks...) as a place to write and journal. I bought some hat boxes and into them I will put my journal, stationery, letters to answer,etc... The hat boxes are small so they don't take up a lot of space and they are pretty, too. I put them beside my loungechair.
Even though I enjoy emailing I also enjoy the old fashioned snailmail system, too!
I also like to write when I go to the coffeehouse downtown. I haven't yet spent much time at the park across the street but I am thinking that will be a nice place to read and write also.
Of course my FAVORITE place to write, as my name implies, is on the train!!!

Where do you like to write
Well, since I have two young children I am happy to write anywhere I get a chance. ;-) I usually write on the computer or in bed. My dh got me one of those "pillows" with the armrests and a light to read & write by. What a nice guy, eh?

I'm not sure this is my favorite place to write, but the only place I write letters and in my journal is at my desk in the kitchen. It's the only chair in the house that I'm truly comfortable in, and has the added attraction of being where I keep my heating pad plugged in!!!!

I write in my journal and do my Bible study at my kitchen table. From there I can look out on my screened porch (which becomes a greenhouse in winter) and all my lovely plants. My kitchen has always been the heart of my home and I seem to have my best thoughts there.
Correspondence and business writing happens in my study at my computer -- best of both worlds!
I keep notepads all over the place. When I wake up with an idea for my story and I know it will be gone if I go back to sleep, I keep 1 beside my bed with a sharp pencil. I keep one on the fridge to keep myself in order. My main place is in the big chair in the livingroom so I can relax. I have a room with a computer that I play oldies and hammer away all my thoughts. But my favorite place is outside because you never know when the idea might hit you. I needed a character for my book and could not start writing. I went for a drive and walked into a department store. Well there she was just as cute as a button and asking her mom 50 questions. I went back out to the car and wrote it all down. Sometimes it maybe a poem, a feeling, a story, or even just a word but I have to get it down or it is lost forever. Now that I will be stuck with this cast on for maybe another year, it is my time to write that great novel. Wish me luck!
For bible studies I tend to sit at the big dining room table. For writing stories I sit at the computer since I save them all to file. If an idea hits me and someone is on the computer, rather than toss the family member to the floor, I'll grab a notebook and write it out then transcribe to the computer when it's available again. I found out the hard way that I have to do this. If I wait on free time then the idea has escaped me or worse, the words. The worst feeling in the world for someone who enjoys writing is lack of words or writers block.

My friend actually has a small desk on her front porch with a comfy little chair. It's very small, just a table top type surface, nothing big like with drawers or anything. Basically just a writing surface. She has a nice big porch, with wicker furniture in addition! Very pretty!!!!
Anyway, she spends an hour every morning before her children get up to journal and drink her morning coffee! It's her quietime before the day begins. She loves her writning time on her little dsek on the front porch!!!
I sit outdoors on the yard swing, under the shade trees- it is so calm out there. Lately it has too hot to stay out there but I pick a breezy, cool evening before the sun goes down. I also love to do snail mail, Trainlady. To me it puts a more personal touch for the receiver... I do a few letters on the computer, but mostly business type letters.

Hi Chadsmom,
I love to receive snail mail letters!!!! Admittedly, most of my friends now communicate by email but I do still have a handful of friends who write them and send them through the mail!!! I wonder if eventually, old fashioned handwritten letters will become obsolete? I Hope Not!!!!
I love to read my mail on the front porch!!
