Sites for Children

My Granddaughter who is 10 years old just started using the computer. Been keeping in touch with her on instant message. Is there any good sites I can let her log on too? I will ask her mother first before. Would like to send her a list to try out. She also has a 6 year old sister. Figure it is better to give her some before she starts downloading herself. Sueanne

Hi Sueanne! My daughter is 10 years old as well and these are sights she has put in her "favorites" file. Check them out and see if you like them. My kids have found great games to play on www.bonus.com . It is a protected games site for kids. Both my 12 year old and my 7 year old have played games on this site for years. There's something for all ages.

;-) Hi my daughter who is 11 just goes crazy for Nickelodean.com, games.com, Zoogdisney and Foxkids.com. They all have children oriented games and she has a ball playing them. I know that The cartoon SpongeBob is all the craze here and she just loves his game of making crabby patties. Hope this helps.

Another great site I found is yahooligans.com. It has games and also educational type stuff that is fun.

My granddaughter is also 10, and she loves the www.barbie.com site. If she likes crafts, you might like to check out crayola.com. And for your own interests, and some free coloring pages, check out igrandparents.com. You can also go to google.com and type in "free coloring pages." Some of the pages are interactive and can be colored right on the monitor, but most of them require a printer.

We went into a site called www.lilbowwow.com, or something similar to that, for one of the young rap stars...and unfortunately when we did that, we ended up with a bunch of porno pop-ups...so just be aware that this can happen, and monitor your DGD's usage of the internet. These pop-ups hit us so hard and so fast that day that I couldn't click out of them, my DGD was totally freaked, and I ended up having to shut down manually...which as you know can be a pain in the tush.

Good luck, and have fun with your DGD. Ten is such an interesting age....they're just sooooo busy, lol.
