Going out to eat

I was actually at a restaurant once that did not bring my change back...it pissed me off...instead of asking due to the fact that it was coin change(it should not matter) I did not leave an additional tip...felt that if they could not bring me back my change they did not deserve more...

I'm glad tipping is not a thing we do in Australia and glad wait staff etc are paid a decent wage. I'd hate having to go out for a meal and then pay more than the menu says. So therefore if I ever travelled to the US I'd probably forget and get terrible service in a restaurant LOL

I do not think that the wage has gone up, but waitstaff gets $2.35 a hour plus tips...and that is handled differently where you work...some allow you to keep the tips that you make...you do have to claim for tax purposes...and some make really good tips depending on where they are working...then there are other places that make you put your tips in a jar and then split it up...Most people do not tip at buffets, but we have always tipped...I just feel that the more often we go to a restaurant they might remember that we bothered to leave the tip and get better service.
