I thought we were doing all right, I can't always keep up with all the chat on some other threads (like Frugal Today) so its nice for me to have a forum that is a little slower...but the more the merrier is always good too.
I am concerned we don't hear from some of the oldies more (deb k, barbzy, candy, etc) but I like that we get pam and laurie on more often now, and I know things go in waves and people drop in and out as much as they can manage, I guess we'll always be here.
whatever happened to the flower pot thingie at the end of the month or has it always been here and I am just missing it?

New Years started with a bang here... sigh.... I am trying to talk to dh about his moods again. I think we both need to see that staying married isn't going to work. A lot of our challenges are over 25 years and still there. I think we both need to see that dh isn't the type of man to marry. I think he made a mistake in marrying me. I am not willing to settle anymore. I am not willing to be alone or lonely. Think there will be some big changes coming my way this year.

Connie that's what a New Year is all about, changes-some we'll like and some we'll just hate, but changes none the less. I'm hoping for some good changes for a change, but keeping my fingers crossed on that one.
Ellen and Sharon, I know FB takes a lot of time, especially the games, but I'm trying to spread myself around a bit and make sure I get back here more often. I too miss being on FC when I stay away too long and I miss seeing how everyone is doing or not, even linked to just about everyone I 'talk' too on FC I don't get everyone's activity on FB, so I miss alot, I can catch up to everyone here even if I don't get back for a few days or more.. Anyway, I hope to be here more than I have been.
Started out the New Year just great! Getting dinner ready and couldn't find the cornbread mix.. had to send dh out for cornbread mix in a hurry, it's almost time to eat and we'll have to wait. At least I'll get Dad's dinner over to him at his normal time, I hope.. got the collards on, black eyed peas and ham cooking good, just need the cornbread-could make a few biscuits but cornbread is the best..
Haven't been playing FB games this week, much, working on my family tree stuff and trying to get people added in that are not yet. Went and talked to a cousin about some people and got some great stories, really need to get a camcorder to record this stuff, can't write in down on paper to do it justice. Think that'll be my next big purchase, a good camcorder.. need to get to Kmart and put one on layaway (found out our Kmart and Sears stores are not some to be closing down, as of yet anyway).
Had my dgs's stay over last night, never had the youngest one but he was fine. gd's had a friend each staying the weekend so we had a full house-7 kids to 4 adults. Didn't have any New Year's plan with the kids though.. they played some games on Wii, watched some TV; got them to bed by 10pm -although they stayed awake a bit longer. The older ones, at least one stayed awake until midnight, I was up until 2am and then read another little while before actually going to sleep.
Tonight, dd and I are planning on ordering 'The Help' on cable after I come back from Dad's. I'm planning on popping popcorn and having a movie party-of sorts, probably just me and dd, if not just me..
We were hoping to get some news from dh's possible birth family, but the letter he sent them was returned refused. It was sent return receipt so it's possible that the person it was sent to was not able to receive it, being that she's 80 years old.. anyone live near Mount Carmel, IL?? I've sent an email to the lady at the reunion site and asked her if she'd handle first contact for us since the letter came back?? Also thinking about resending the letter without a return receipt.
Well, need to check my collards and then I'll do a little genealogy work before going to Dad's .
take care, Pam

New Year's Eve was pretty quiet. I took an afternoon nap so was awake to watch the ball drop in Times Square on TV, then we toasted with our Sparkling Cider. We heard what sounded like a gun shot right after midnight so hope no one was injured. I'd never heard of anyone celebrating New Years by shooting guns in the air until the 90's and someone died by a bullet that came back down in an apartment building. It's illegal here but some people still do it.
New Years Day we usually always watch the Rose Parade but when it falls on a Sunday they postpone the parade until Monday. For Christmas we got some gift cards for two restaurants and decided on Red Robin. The food was very good but it was too noisy there. Then we used some movie gift cards and went to see "Tin Tin" in 3D.
I put all the Christmas decorations away tonight and we'll take down the tree tomorrow and put it in the garage.

Thank you, Sharon for the birthday wishes. I LOVED the dinner! It was wonderful and just watching them cook was amazing. I gave up all the games I was playing on FB, it did just take up too much of my time. Seemed I was always on FB playing games. BTW, how is your son doing?
Connie, sorry to hear about your DH and all the problems. I'll be praying for you that you make the right decisions and that you find happiness. Some changes can be hard, but sometimes it is for the best.
Sounds like you had a busy night New Year's Eve! Seven kids are a handful, I remember those days with my 4 and my SIL's 3.LOL I hope the lady at he reunion site will be able to make contact with the lady you believe to be your DH's birth mom. I pray she is so ya'll can get answers and information. You will love the camcorder, I got one for Christmas, actually it's a video and still shot recorder and I LOVE it!
Apricot, your New Year's Eve was what I had planned, but I ended up babysitting for my grandson and a friends little girl. I enjoyed the time with them and Taylor enjoyed having his NeeNee to play with. Alyssa cried for a while but finally decided to stop and play for a bit before bedtime. She wasn't used to being left by her mom. I got home about 12:45a.m. New Year's Day.
Yesterday, we went to church, had lunch at my mom's then came home and I cooked black eyed peas, turnip greens, cornbread and a German chocolate cake. This morning I cooked breakfast and I've got laundry to do and some cleaning to do. I took my Christmas tree down Saturday and got everything put away. I've got to move the furniture back today too.
I hope everyone has a very blessed, healthy, happy, safe and prosperous 2012. God bless! Everyone please take care, stay safe and warm.
Hugs, Paula

Turned cold here, it is not suppose to last but hopefully will kill some germs. I find FB sort of cold like IMing.I like the conversations we have here and on frugal. I found a lot of junk on my computers when my dd was playing the FB games. I asked her to stop and play at Yahoo games or the tons we have here. I spend too much time on the computer as it is so I never started the games We put the decorations away, getting the house back to normal. Everyone goes back to school and work tomorrow. DD#1& 3 are both looking for jobs, praying they find them.

Most of our house is back to blue again but the tree is still up, will do that one this week. Our outside decorations are almost all down. Need to get the window candles out as they tend to let cold air into the house from the string supports I have tacked to the windowsill underneath.
It's cold and icy out and dh is driving to DC behind a snowplow going 30 mph. It'll be a long drive for him today. Please please continue to pray that they relocate him back here before the winter gets really bad.
He doesn't have many mountain ridges anymore but still, ice and snow on the roads, even with a Subaru, is no fun at all.
