Just a hi to all, I've been pretty tired at night with all the job hunt, job tried, new job that is working out, but I can report that I have begun to laugh again which is a good sign of healing. Along with the laughter are some tears but they are good ones too.

| | Thanks everyone for your prayers, and input, I appreciate it. As far as money goes, my brother has given me and my dd full reign to use my moms money for whatever we need, so its not really a money issue(unless we go the nursing home route) than as someone said medicaid will kick in when all the money is gone and I know the nursing home will take it all, along with the house. My brother has moved some money, but the bigger issue to me anyhow, is if I can actually do this, its a lot bigger responsibility than you realize until you take into consideration all that will have to be done. The social worker said maybe to wait a few weeks (which I am) until we make a final decision, and see how she does in the rehab, hopefully she will gain some strength back, and can at least get around walking with the walker again, she can not do that right now, but its because she was in bed for the last 3 weeks in the other hospital, and they only got her sitting up in a chair and never made her walk or attempt to. I went to her 1st PT, at thenursing home yesterday(it wasnt planned I was just dropping off some clothes for her and they invited me to go along) and she did terrible, she wouldnt even try, but she is also complaining about a pain in her stomach and inside her rectum, that goes up her back, whcih they are looking into today, Im wondering if its another injury from the fall, that was overlooked because they have been spending so much time dealing with the shattered elbow, and missed something else.Anyhow it brought tears to my eyes watching her, and I had to leave the room,(great support I was lol) As far as Darryl going along with this, he has been great and will do whatever I decide, he gets along great with my mom and actually has more patience with her than I have, and he also has been thru a similar thing (before I knew him) with his mom, she had Parkinsons for years, before she passed away and the last years of it, there had to be someone with her all the time, so he worked nights so he could watch her in the day while his dad worked. But he also had 2 sisters that helped out as well. Sueanne, so glad to hear you have a new(old) friend I wanted to comment on a few other things and it just went out of my head. I need to get going, and get some errands done, Im swaying more towards making the move, but will take the advice of the social worker and see how she does, if its gonna be down to the fact she is in a wheelchair and needs to be helped into it, etc., I know I cant do that because of my back, those are the things Im thinking about, time will tell I guess. Gotta get my day started here its after 8:30 and I have alot to do today hope you all have a good day. Hugs, and thanks again for all your support. |

| | | Sandie, you have a difficult decision to make at some point. You can procrastinate only so long. Your mom has been declining for awhile now. It is difficult to watch someone you love to go downhill. Have you checked into a in-home nurse? It would be a round the clock care without the guilt. It would be more expensive but also less guilt. |

Out side of lifting Mom those chairs are not that lite weight at least not the ones I have been around. I am waiting for Stacie to get here to pick me up for our commissary trip something tells me it will be a Wal~Mart or some where else trip. We shall see

Sandi, glad it not a money thing, and your husband understands. That is so helpful when they do, for the support system is there for you.
I hope your mother will gain strength, but you will need to make a decision in case that strength goes again. For next time you may not have time to make a decision. One needs to be in place.
Just wanted to drop in before going to bed. Morning comes early and I need to be at the dentist at 9:20, and it will take 30 min to get there and then we have to pick up a check for me from the school before going.. so morning comes early.
take care and prayers goes out to those in need, for decision making, and whatever else.. GOD knows the needs..
hugs and friendship

Happy New Year Denahowy!
Sandie, I am also glad money and dh is not an issue. You are wise to get the professional opinion.
Bar Bar, you are right that morning comes early! Has anyone else noticed that it is brighter earlier and that each day is longer now by a few minutes? As much as I like snow and winter, spring is not far behind! February is a short month and even though March is a long month, the snowdrops will have bloomed and other early spring bulbs.
I had a great week at the job and next week is my first solo week. I hope I do well. I had a patient and direct trainer and will be sorry now that we didn't get to work longer than we did.

| | Oh my! It is 2011 and I am behind already.ffice ffice" /> Charlotte, glad you had a nice New Year’s eve. I took down our tree and most of our decorations a few days before NYE so I could just hang out on New Year’s day. Ellen, sounds like you are very busy. Hope your new job continues to go well. I noticed the days getting a bit longer and am already looking forward to spring! Patti, glad you had a good New Year’s eve/day. One day I am going to have to try black eyed peas. Tami, I, too, am glad to be back into routine again after the holidays. Connie, hope you had a good New Year’s eve/day. Let’s hope we all have a fantastic 2011. Bernice, sounds like you do the same thing on your days off that I do, clean and get things done you don’t have time for otherwise. Cau, didn’t the holidays just seem to fly by? Hope you had a good week. Sueanne, sounds like you are keeping very busy. So wonderful to hear that your friend moved nearby you and glad your new neighbor is friendly as well. I love the picture of your mom. Lauri, hope you had a good New Year’s and a good week. Sandie, wow, you are going through a lot. I am glad your mom is in rehab and doing well. I hope she continues to improve. You have a lot of decisions to make. I have been in your shoes and I know it isn’t easy. If you decide to move into your mom’s home to care for her, make sure you get help. There are agencies out there who can offer respite care so you can get some down time and time away from the house and often insurance will cover some if not all of the costs. Talk to the hospital social worker who can be a great resource for information. Also, as Sueanne mentioned, make sure you get a medical power of attorney and talk to your mom about what she wants. There are so many options to consider I am glad you have some time to figure things out. When my mom was ill, my brothers and I all had a medical power of attorney so whoever got to the hospital first could make decisions. Luckily, we were all there together. You need to make sure you take care of yourself too. Donna (dval) I wish we could have kept our tree up longer but ours got dry really fast and the needles were dropping all over the place. We cut the tree ourselves so no idea why as it had lots of water. Bar_Bar, sorry to hear you are having car problems. I hope it doesn’t cost more than predicted. I think working on your health is a great goal for the New Year. I hope your dental work is pain free!!! Glad you got to spend time with your dgds. Denahowy, hope you had a great New Year’s. I had a quiet New Year’s eve. I had the day off from work so spent the day cleaning. Dh was in Maine for the day but got home in the early evening. We ate munchies that night and watched a couple videos before watching the ball drop. New Year’s Day I spent cleaning and even took a nap which was awesome! I never seem to get enough sleep. It is nice to be back into routine this week and have all my dc babies/kids back. Ds1 is still on break from college for a couple more weeks but is working so earn money for books etc. when he goes back. Ds2 is back to school, driver’s ed and his job. He did get to work a lot over school vacation so is happy about the big pay check. Dd has just been busy working and with her bf. We are supposed to get snow tonight. We have only a couple inches on the ground since the last storm. This weekend I plan to start decluttering and getting rid of things per my New Year’s resolutions. I hope I don’t get derailed. Hope everyone has a great weekend!
