DH doesn't have one at all and I only have a prepaid. We STILL can't get any service where we live and it is spotty for about ten miles surrounding us. We still once in a blue moon can get a call out ....partially....and then the wind blows and we lose connection. Every service tells me "oh we can get you service"....till they pull us up on their map and then all the same story. You'll never get cell service there! We are surrounded by national forest and a nature preserve so they say not enough need for our area. So I will probably never be able to get real cell phone service where we live. So I don't pay much attention to all the ads out there to even know what is available because it wouldn't be for me! lol

I have just a plain old free phone with the minutes free. It's okay, but where I live you can't get any signals at all. I have to go about 5 miles to the top of a hill to receive any bars at all.

In Nebraska, we had cell service in our town for three years. Until then I used a prepaid.

My dh and I have iPhones. We are spoiled with them. Up until this past weekend, we didn't activate the texting feature but now....I can text. ROFL! We bought my son a Samsung Flight phone. It's really nice. We didn't have the Internet service turned on so right now he can only call or text but the phone is blue tooth and internet capable.

I can't say that we aren't happy with the iphone but I'm not saying that we won't look at other Smart phones when the time comes to renew, either. The Android X is pretty nice.

We have ATT service and there's some definite very low, almost "dead" spots in certain areas around here. When I asked about it, the sales rep said that they sent an email out notifying customers of the possible slowdown for the next couple of months because they were working hard to bring the whole area up to 3G service. I said "HHHMMMM.... that email must have gotten lost in mid air because I never received it.

It really depends on the time of day here, I think. Late last night I was using both of our phones and the Internet was working super fast.

Our phones are the LG 8575 Touch (my son's and mine are the same...), we also have a wirelesss internet card that can be used in our desktop, or lap top computer. Our company is Alltel but it going over to AT&T, we just got a paper letting us choose a new phone as our others will not work when it transforms. We chose phones, they look similar to the Blackberry. I am not fond of the touch screens like we now have. This is called a Pantech Link. So we will see. The iphone 4 was available but I am sure at a price... our bill was already hefty enough I also downgraded our Verizon home phone as it went from $46.00, 61.00, then 71.00 in the past three months. (free long distance so...) I called them and told them I just wanted a typical home service. It is $14.65 plus tax monthly. We will see when the first bill comes, and if it is too high I will do away with it and just get by with our cells altogether... I have many friends who have already and are not missing it!

Yeah the "basic" cost for the home phones isnlt bad, till they add all the taxes and fees you have to pay (911 enhancements and etc). Our basic is $17, then you add all that and it is like $35! So since we can't get cell service at home I added long distance on my home phone so.....$72 later we do have phone service. Without adding the long distance to it we could only call the little town 10 miles away and there is only 1 grocery, 1 drug store, dollar general, funeral home and 1 gas station, so everything else would be long distance. SO long distance a must around here.
I know several people that have done away with their landlines and only use their cell phones. Most like that except when they have to call tech support for a computer, router or something else and they are on the line for three hours or so! Then they have huge bills so that is one drawback to the cell phone only. Even with enhanced plans that part gets them!
