Nap Time

Do you take a nap every day or just some days? When my DS"s were small I took a nap lots of times when they did. Then as I went to work "nap time" was over. Now that DH and I are retired "nap time" is returning! lol

There are days when I just can't go any longer with a refreshing nap time. Usually a 20 to 30 minute nap refreshes me just fine. But sometimes sittiing down and turning on the TV to relax a little turns into an hour or two nap! (Yeah, I didn't set the alarm).

I have recently read a book about "power sleeping" and they tell you to take a short nap to rejuvenate yourself, but don't let it fall into a deep sleep because a deep sleep that is difficult to wake from will leave you feeling groggy. But it is nce to know taking a nap shouldn't be anything to feel guilty about! So do you take a scheduled nap or just when you feel you really need it?

I still work full time, so no naps during the work week but I always need a nap on Sunday afternoon after lunch. Sometimes if I'm home for a holiday or just a day off I will take a nap if I need it and just until I wake up. It is usually an hour but once in awhile it ends up being two hours. I hate alarm clocks and would only use one if I had to be somewhere else that afternoon. If I had to think about not falling into a deep sleep or the nap only lasting half an hour that would feel like work and not be restful to me.

I would give anything if I could take a nap every day! I never get enough sleep at night. I work 10 hour days running my daycare and think it is so funny that my little dc children fight taking naps when I would just love to take one!

My naps are based on the sometimes schedule, because I normally can not sleep all night long if I take the afternoon nap when I am not ill. The rare times that I do sleep at night after an afternoon nap is if it has been dry enough to do yard work, or the temperatures exceed my comfort zone (a side from being ill). If I am ill...forget the afternoon nap...

Sammi, you could try to do what one of my bosses use to do a couple of days a week - if you have staff you can trust to do this anyway... During on of the nap times sit down with your little ones leaving your 2nd in command, and ask an assistant to quietly wake you in 15 minutes. She started doing this at the facility when the 1 & 2 year-olds would give the morning shift teachers issues with napping. Sort of a way bribe the children that she would "rest" with them if they quieted down for reading time with her, but it also gave her the time to catch 20 winks before going back to her demanding job. I used the excuse a few times with some of my older daycare children whose parents told them they didn't have to nap even though the facility policy which they signed stated that all children from time A to time B "must" be on nap mats and not wondering the room, making, noise, etc as other children may still need their down time.

If I'm home and need a nap I will take one. Sometimes I just need 20-30 min to finish the day.

when I was SAHM I would work from 6 to 2 then eat lunch and nap until the kids got off the school bus, then get up and make dinner

now no naps and I definitely fall into bed by 10:30 or pay for it the next day at work...

If I am home I sometimes lay
down and read a bit then put
book up and close eyes now
and then I actually fall asleep
but never for long then I get
up and do whatever. I am
now headed to book and then
sleep hopefully
