Simple Pleasures

What are your favorite simple pleasures of a summer day?

I like sitting on our porch, reading the paper or a magazine...having a popsickle from the La Rosa Cart....or being inside on the beanbag watching a movie when it is 105 degrees outside!!!

hugs, train

I like watering and working in my flower beds. I am a major NOVICE, so anything that grows or flowers is very exciting.....except the grass and weeds!

Cooking and baking with my kids (for a while during the summer, anyway)

yard sales and curbside shopping!

Fresh berries and other fruits!!

My simple pleasure when I can't get out is a good book. I forgot to add that.

I love the cool breeze at the beginning of the day, and I'll take my coffee out onto the deck.

I live in a suburb of NYC, so we're not particularly countrified, but I'm blessed to live on the property line of some nice State land. From my deck I can see deer, foxes, bever, hawks, falcons and all assortment of little animals in the fields. I love to watch the finches and all the other colorful birds flitting around, and the squirrels chasing each other along the trees.

We have a groundhog that emerges from under our shed, and I really enjoy watching the dog "stalk" him. They have this little dance all worked out; it's pretty funny. I don't know what TC would do if she ever got close enough to catch him!

But my favorite "simple summer pleasure" isn't during the day. It's at night when I go out to the same spot, ( with a cup of decaf this time) and look at the stars. I try to identify the constellations, the planets, and always keep an eye out for a shooting star or two. I love the sound of the tree frogs and crickets. The lightning bugs light up the yard like thousands of Tinkerbells. That's my favorite summer pleasure.

Fresh tomatoes from my garden, a good book under a shady tree, a day at the beach, ice cream, seeing how nice my lawn looks after I am done mowing, iced tea or fresh lemonade, eating dinner out on my deck, star gazing, and Dunkin Donuts coffee coolattas

Seeing Petey flitting around his cage after I or Judy have just cleaned it.
Watching the birds, geese, ducks and squirrels outside either from my porch (love my porch) or from the patio out back. When I am out there enjoy Panda (Pug) if she is out there

I like reading a book in the early morning hours (anytime b4 9 am) - can be inside or out depending on the weather. Later in the day I like to sit on a log at either a local beach or park and watch life happening - sometimes I even walk a little bit (other than from car to place and back). Today is laundry day, so I am on PC socializing, but later I will try to see a movie.

Hanging clothes on the line and not have your hands freeze, reading a good book sitting at the edge of the Tn river with a gentle breeze blowing and the waves slapping against the shoreline.
