Are your kids silly over Silly Bandz??

Silly Bandz (shaped rubber band bracelets) are all the rage around this area. Kids of all ages are trading them. My kids are crazy about them.

Are your kids silly over them? What are the most popular bands in your area?

Here, the kangaroo seems to be coveted. The lobster, horse and house are also wanted by a lot of kids. My son happens to have a kangaroo --and he guards it. lol!!

How are the kids wearing them? Here they are worn on arms, around ankles and tied together for necklaces and bracelets.

They remind me of jelly bracelets that I was crazy about in school. Remember them?

We went to a Memorial Service on Friday and there were the band with his name and date of death on them.

Do you mean that the deceased was wearing a rubber bracelet with his name and date on it or that the people who attended the services were wearing them? I've never heard of that before.

The silly bandz are a little different since they are shaped. You can't print anything on them.

Sorry, I guess these weren't the silly bands but the rubber "cause" bracelet bands. They were for those attending the memorial to take as a rememberance of the deceased who was killed 6 months ago when his motorcycle was hit by a car.

I could picture what you were talking about. I've still never heard of those at memorial services. Not quite sure that I would want to wear one. What do you think of it?

It was odd but most people took them and wore them as they were more a reminder about being aware of motorcycles being on the road then about him personally. The local Harley Davidson store has been working with the widow doing an awareness campaign and they had bumper stickers and ink pens there to take. We did wear a black ribbon with his name and date of death but left the bumper stickers to those people that would actually put them on their cars, again it was about watching out for motorcycles on the road.

The Silly Bandz's are even a hit with the High School kids! Where can you buy them in your area? Hallmark is the only store I've been able to find them and they go like hot cakes!! Wonder how long this will last?
