| WWII in HD
Did anyone watch this on the History Channel this week? We did, as a family, and it was just powerful stuff. While all of my extended relatives- uncles, cousins- who served in WWII went to Europe, my Dad went to the Pacific theater. This series focused on both, using mostly full-color footage that the History Channel scanned the globe to find over a two-year period. It was really a moving experience to watch the show. I even made note of a few books written by some of the servicepersons featured in the show- one of them titled Bedpan Commando by June Wandrey, a nurse originally from Wisconsin who served in Italy and immediate-post-D-Day France.
Just curious to see if anyone else watched. Such powerful footage. I used to listen to my Dad tell stories about what he experienced over there, but this series hit home for me more than any other films from the era have.
