Before we were married, my hubby had his bike stolen from his apartment patio, which was not only surrounded by a tall wooden fence, but the thief figured out how to destroy the lock fastening the bike to the barbecue pit. The thief courteously left the pit behind.

We've had cars broken into twice- once, our GPS was stolen, and once, an iPod and a pack of gum. Nobody was ever caught, but we figured it was the teenagers in the house on the corner of our old neighborhood- they wandered the neighborhood at all hours.

I had my lunch stolen out of a work fridge once. My unit at work had gone out as a group for pre-Thanksgiving lunch at a "home cookin'" place that gave HUGE portions. I had an entire pork chop, green beans, and mashed potatoes left over, so I put them in a to-go container and wrote my name on the lid, then put it in the fridge in our break room for the next day. I came to work without money that next day, and lo and behold- someone had not only stolen my lunch, but they ate everything BUT the green beans and PUT THE CONTAINER BACK IN THE FRIDGE!! I was so mad- both because my lunch was stolen, and because someone had the nerve to take MOST of the lunch but not the whole thing! I mean, who DOES that, really?!?

I wrote a note and put it on the fridge that said something like- "To the person who ate my leftovers- I've been having the sniffles and a sore throat and cough all week, so you might need to make a doctor's appointment in a few days." My boss and coworkers laughed until they cried, and one of them brought me lunch when she went to get hers. She said she hadn't laughed that hard in a long time that I didn't need to pay her back. My husband was so mad when I told him that day that he showed up at my office an hour later- with a mini-fridge he bought at the Sears up the street from my office.

I said no, but I need to change that to yes....
I know what you went through having your lunch eaten Catwoman. I had taken a salad for lunch one day and when I went to lunch it was obvious that someone had eaten half!! my salad...., I certainly couldn't eat what was left-wish I'd thought of putting a note on the fridge like you did though...

I also had my bicycle stolen out of my yard a few years back-my dd had left it in view of the road-so it was gone, found out who'd done it years later though (not the people I thought either) We actually called the cops to report it stolen and I was shocked to be told to call 911-instead of the non emergencey #-it was definitely NOT an emergency.

My ds was robbed while in high school-someone stole her purse with her class ring money in it.

On a Friday night last Sept. at 10pm, I was leaving Walmart. I opened my car, started it up, threw my purse in the front seat and started putting my stuff in the back seat. While I was doing that a man came around the front of the car to the passenger side, said hi how ya doing, opened the door, took my purse and ran! There wasn't anyone nearby and he ran into a condo complex across the street. I have since found out he lived there. I didn't have a lot of money in it, somewhere around $60. The real pain was all the credit card cancellations and replacing my license and cards. The heartbreaking thing was losing my pictures and sentimental things. Now I never put my purse down. It stays in my possession at all times!

The cops caught the guy some months later and he's now in jail for a year (not because of just me).

Our house got broken into once and that was one time too many. Lucky they did not get much. I think that they got scared away. I had Sunday School money out in plain site and they did not take that nor did they take any electronics. I am still missing a drawer from my dresser that they took thinking that they were getting a lot of jewerly due to a bunch of empty boxes that were in the drawer. I had to laugh about that. They must have been furious when they opened all of those boxes. They only got my Great Grandmothers Cameo.
