Anyone own an iPhone? What do you think of it?

My husband and I both upgraded to iphones a few months ago.

He uses his a lot at work. I don't use my phone a lot because I refuse to be hooked to a device all of the time.

We've pretty much made a pact to stick to the free apps for the phone - we've paid for under 5 apps. so far.

My opinion of it is....

As a phone, there's a lot to be desired. It's awkward to me talking on it.

As for the apps and having the Internet, I like it.

What do you think of it?

What's your favorite app?

The shazam app where you can hold up the phone to the radio and it will identify the song is pretty neat.

I have a few games on it for my kids, news shortcuts for CNN, USA Today and an app for "newspapers across the US"

One other app that I use is called "around me". You can type in the zip code or name of the city..etc and it will tell you what's around you. You can choose from different catagories.

I don't have an iPhone, but I have a Blackberry. I have purchased one twice because the company offered a rebate, which I never got. So, I was thinking about getting an iPhone next time. I do not have a landline and I depend on my phone to remind me of appointments, to wake me up, to keep track of my 5 Google calendars, and sometimes get on the Internet. I am interested too to know if everyone thinks this phone is worth it.

I have a regular cell phone but I do have an iPod touch, which is basically an iPhone without the phone. I can only use the internet-based stuff when I have wireless access, but I am enjoying all the free apps that there are. Since I subscribe to satellite radio, I can listen free on my iPod. And lately I've been carrying it into the kitchen and browsing to the recipe I want for dinner

I I have 2 different apps on my phone for radio stations. I like to listen to the morning people on a couple of stations in Pittsburgh.

Here lately, this phone has been a lifesaver for Internet access and phone service. Although I still think that it's very awkward talking on it.

ds1 has recently upgraded his old phone and replaced it with an iPhone, he likes it as he likes the MSN emails and such as for apps ds2 has an iPod touch that is the same but no phone and they either share somehow or 1 gets one thing and the other gets something else. I love the games one the touch.
Both bought their own out of their own money had nothing to do with anything else.

It's nice that once you buy an app, others can upload it to their phone if you choose. My dh would spend a fortune on apps if I didn't rope him in and curtail the spending.

I bought 1 card and I get to choose some games as well, ds2 uses up the $ with other games and when I want 1 I get it, we share.
I like that you can get free things as well as paid for one.

Tami, I used a jar of pocket change I had collected to buy myself an itunes gift card. I used that to buy a couple of paid apps. I figure that if I limit myself to buying cards with spare change, I won't go overboard. Especially since all QUARTERS are saved for my kids' lunchboxes. So this is only pennies, nickels, dimes.

There are a few free apps out there that are "app review" things and they highlight other apps that are temporarily free. I've gotten a few good ones that way.

That's a good idea for buying apps and tunes. I was just telling my dh that I want to buy some music because I don't have anything on there now except for the radio.

Happy face

I don't have a cell phone (a fact which I'm teased about by everyone!), but my dh, dd, ds, and ddil all have iphones. They LOVE them. They mostly download free apps, but occasionally they will purchase a low-cost application.
