My husband doesn't see it unless he trips over it. He will gripe when the kids leave toothpaste in the sink BUT he will not clean it up.
He gripes when the kids leave wrappers on the tv tray... yet he does the same thing and the next day I end up tossing the trash.

| | | Well I must say that yes I do know that I am a neat freak...I just don't like the idea of an untidy home...I have been in many that I was afraid to sit somewhere b/c it wasn't that clean but you overlook this if they are friends, I guess, but of course I don't go there very often. Here is what I use to do with my children if they left dirty clothes on the floor or would NOT put their clean ones away..the dirties would not get washed..until THEY put put them in the laundry...thus, they would want their favorite whatever...ok..when u put ALL your dirties in the hamper, it will get washed....if they wouldn't clean up their room after repeated requests....then when they left for school, I would literally open all their chest of draws and start throwing all their clothes everywhere, on the bed, their TV, anywhere they couldn't get to what they wanted..then I would simply close the door and when they got home...they knew by the closed door as what to find behind it. They then had to refold everything all over again and if something was on the floor 2 days later...it just was a repeat!!! Believe me...it took a while, but they finally got the idea to clean their room and surprisingly my boys now are better than my girls....lol. My husband...well it's going to be a continuous battle, I can tell but I will still clean and have everything in it's perspective place! |

My husband is flat out lazy, he sees it all but doesnt do any of it so i do want makes me comfortable and nothing else. I ve purposely left his area alone until my Daughter 10 took pics of his pop cans (12) and chip bags (4) and numerous other trash on floor by his chair. He just didnt care.

My dh cares but doesn't do much inside the house. Now outside the house is a different story! He is trying to pick up after himself better.
Lisa wonderful to see you!!

OK, Marks messiness is starting to drive me nuts. Do I just keep cleaning up or do I lower my standards and ignore the junk? I like the house to look neat, not scrubbed to perfection, not anywhere near that, but neat and lived in. His philosophy is if there is an empty space on the kitchen table, its a place to stack things. We EAT on the kitchen table.....etc etce etc.
I know in the grand scheme of things there are bigger things to worry about. The older I get the more things bug me.
hugs, train

Oh dear, I can tell you when I do meals on wheels we go into people houses, one person with a 3 bedroom house and when I go to put the meal somewhere, well it can be a challenge as all the table and bench space is filled and I mean FILLED with stuff, does he want to be like that LOL
Michael moved back home the lease was up the friends had split, so we had 6 months of quiet, and cleanliness. Sheesh he was back only one week and I was trying to get him to clean his room and tidy the shower after himself and in general, pick up after himself. I just want to scream sometimes!

Ellen, I love your creativity!!!
After a week in Florida, I came home to a disaster area!!! It took me a day and a half to even start to get the house back to normal. The people here were 16, 24 and 50 so quite old enough to pick up after themselves, run and empty the dishwasher, to a load or two of laundry and vacuum the floors!!! I am always amazed at how they can ingnore the messes they create. And like Donna, I wonder if I should continue to pick up after them or lower my standards a bit. Unfortunately, since I run a daycare at home, I cannot lower my standards too much. Also, it would drive me nuts to live in such a disaster area.
