Many people around here belong to swim or lake clubs. We also belong to one of these. Our membership allows us to bring in 8 guests free; after that, the guest must pay.
We always pay for our guests when we invite them. We don't ask our friends or our kids' friends to pay their own way in.
My children have recently been invited with friends to swim at other swim clubs where the friends are members. But my kids have been expected to bring enough money for their admission. This can get expensive--depending on the swim club, it's between $4 and $10 (highest prices on weekends).
What do you think? If you invite a guest, do you pay for their admission, or do you expect them to pay their own?
If I invite a guest, it would be paid by me. After all I'm the one who invited the person and I wouldn't expect them to pay their own way.

Me too. If I do the inviting, I do the paying.
One time we took ds and a friend to Kennywood Park ( amusement park for those who don't know Kenywood) We paid for the four of us to get in. The friend said he had to give us money so he wouldn't get into trouble at home. We took it then spent it on getting him some food while at the park.

I'm in an agreement here. If I am invited to a place that requires payment to attend as a guest, I am assuming that the invitee is paying for my visit... otherwise I would decline and suggest a more fun activity (where I know no fee is required). Another option is to send a "payment due" to the parents of the friend who is requiring a payment for your child(ren) to attend their club activity (along with their one time payment for this trip) for all the times you paid for them to attend your club. Another option is for you to give your child (ren) the money to attend and then let your child (ren) know that it will be the last time you will pay for them to attend this activity AND pay at own club for their friends to attend.

KSJEn touched on the next issue...we are paying both ways--to get the friends into our pool and to get into the friends' pools. (And we paid for the membership to our pool, which the kids don't want to swim in because their friends are all in different ones.) Sigh...
