When dd1 and ds were in school bedtime was 9:30 pm. In high school, it was in bed by 10, lights out at 10:30. I rarely had a problem with either of them going to sleep by that time.
With dd2 and dd3, I try to keep it the same, but sometimes I get some flack.
Its funny, dd1 is 27, a married woman now and she goes to bed around 9 pm every night, LOL. She says she has learned she needs the sleep to put in a good day at her job.

I stopped enforcing bedtime when the kids started staying up later than me! I am one who needs to get to bed early if I want to function the next day. Big DS stays up until around 11 on a school night. DD needs more sleep. She stays up until 10 or so. Luke WANTS to stay up as late as the Big Kids but of course we cannot let him do that! Generally if he wakes up early (before 7) he will go to sleep by 9.

Dinsky, Luke gives us all kinds of grief because he is so much younger than the others and wants to do what they do. He just doesn't understand that he's not old enough yet!

Hi everyone!
Sharon that was great advice you shared with Barbar, but your story about all you went thru with the different airports wore me out, lol!!! I cant picture my mom being able to do that, but she is up there in years now too. It could happen to any one of us, and since the passing of my dad, I worry more and more about my own mortality and Darryls(especialy since he smokes) and I have a friend whose dh is going thru chemo right now because of lung cancer, so it hits close to home for me, I keep telling Darryl if he quit smoking his B'P would go down too and he probably wouldnt even need meds to control it, men, I tell you, do they ever listen???
We had a nice weekend Sat (the 4th) we had a family cookout at my moms, my dd and fmaily were there, and Darryl and I, and my neice and her dh showed up for a bit. Yesterday we had a cookout here, for a few friends, and then went to the fireworks, they had postponed them to last night because of all the bad weather. Then all kinds of chaos broke out at the fireworks, there was a shooting of all things, 2 kids got shot (not serious, one was grazed, and the other got shot in the hand) so needless to say there was police and ambulances, and chaos all over the place. They did arrest 1 young teenage boy, but we left, it just ruined the rest of the night for me.
Well my cousin went back home, I loved seeing her, but was kind of glad to see her go, lol, she has a very interesting job, she is the conceirge(sp?) for one of the Hilton hotels, and gets to meet all kinds of celebritys, actors, sports figures etc., but I tell you when she stays at someone elses home(like mine lol) she sure doesnt lift a finger to help out much, it started wearing on my nerves a bit, and reminded me why I dont ask her to visit much.
Joy good luck on your new job
Gosh everything else I wanted to comment on just went out of my head. Im off for my morning walk, its beautiful out here today around 74 and no humidity!! HUGS to ALL

It is hard on the youngest to miss out on any fun that happens after bedtime...I tell my kids to enjoy being young because they can't go back to it, and also, if we do anything exciting we'll wake them up, but now I am the one in bed early and the kids go till midnight or more, working a job at 8 ro 9 am puts them in earlier though

Dinsky, our strawberries are late this year due to weather conditions. There will be 2 more weeks of picking.

Sandie, there is no way I could go through all that airport crap now.
I worry also about Buck as he has 7 stents in his arteries. Another blockage and it will be bypass surgery. Since he has retired he is not eating properly again. He is eating brats and weiners and summer sausage at lunch time. I reminded him the other day about his eating habits. It does no good to harp about it because he doesn't listen to me anyway. I mentioned that after I retired and he was working and eating properly, he had no problems and hadn't had to go into the hospital and was feeling good. No chest pains or anything. And if he keeps up with his present eating habits he will be going in for bypass surgery. Food for thought.

Doing laundry today. Buck mowed the lawn.
Sure glad I got all the strawberries taken care of yesterday.
Nice breeze right now. Have all the windows open and it is comfortable in the house.

Hi to everyone.

Was an overcast day today was able to get alot of weeding done in the gardens. Once I sat down hated to get up my feet were stiff.

I like to use the hoe and rake to get everything done faster. The watermelon plants are starting to get runners so wanted to get everything cleaned
up before it spreads.

Sharon...Good idea to keep after Buck now about His eating habits. My Dh became very health concious after He retired and He still needed a triple bypass with low cholesterol readings. The arteries can build up without us having any side effects.

Now that Dh is getting older I worry sometimes when He overdoes it outside. Exercise is important to keep the body in shape. They say a good sweat helps get rid of the toxins in your body.

My Mom would come to Florida by herself from NJ every winter until she was ninety years old. Once she broke Her hip my brother would fly down with Her and go back alone.

Now we all have cell phones so we can get in touch with family picking us up or letting them know we will be late.

Looking forward to some rain tonight. Hope we get some.

Hi everyone,

Just popping in for a few minutes -- it's been incredibly long since I stopped in to chat! I don't know where the time has gone. Work has been very busy, so I am grateful for that, with so many layoffs and job losses all around and in my family, too.

So nice to stop in for your lovely "chat" and hope I'll be able to stop in now and then.

Best wishes,

Liz

Just a fly by at the moment.

Sandie, where did you go to see the fireworks?

Off to the market for milk. We need our own cow right now.

Take care.

Sharon I was just reminding my dh about his food intake and lack of exercise. He as diabetes and can be kept in check when he does his part.
Told I’m his wife not his mom, I do buy sausage in the summer as he loves it grilled. I guess I have to go back to just buying it once in awhile.

Dds and dgd painted dgd’s bedroom the 4th. They are touching it up today. Dh was thrilled not to be doing it. It is a god awful purple but she is 11 going on 12 and she loves it.
Beautiful day today, warm
but not ungodly hot

Joy how did today go?

My dgd stays up until 10 during the summer but must be in by 8:30 or 9 during the school year. She catches the bus by 7:15 so we start early here

Thanks to everyone for the well wishes. This is not my dream job, but I guess I can get use to it until something better comes along. I feel like I have taken a step backward in my life with this job. I took a paycut and since this a new business trying to get off the ground they expect some extras from you, but are not willing to pay for them. On Wednesdays and Thursdays they would like me to take the towels home to wash, but I doubt if there is any extra compensation for that. I also have to drive to the main store 2 days a week and pick up the food for the day and drive 18 mi to my store. I don't plan on driving those 18 mi without getting paid mileage. I am also frustrated by having several people telling me how to do things and everyone of them tells me something different. Ok now that I have gotten that off my chest I will try to be a bit more positive.

I hope everyone had a nice 4th. We were pretty lazy at our house and did little. Dh & I had a craving for movie theater popcorn so we went to see Ice Age. It was a cute movie and we both laughed.
This coming Saturday is the sale for my old job. It will be a really tough day. The Friday after the sale would have been my boss' birthday. His wife's birthday and their anniversary are the following week. Dh & I and a few friends are taking my boss' wife to a Guess Who concert the weekend of his birthday.
Well out of time for now. Have a great night and good day tomorrow.
