This morning, a friend invited me to see her profile at Reunion.com. As soon as I gave my information, my daughter called and said she got a text-message from me asking her to join reunion.com!!!! I have since found out that everyone on my address book was sent the invitation from me, without my permission!!!! I am pretty upset because some of these are my professors and ex-bosses and so on. I have had to send out apologies and so on. Besides trying to delete myself and sending a complaint to them, is there anything I can do?

I know that there are some facebook apps that want to check through your address book. As far as I know, none of them has looked in mine--I always say "no" when that option comes up. I believe that there SHOULD be disclosure like that so you can decline it.

A trusted friend sent the invite to me--so I thought. Come to find out, she was doing the same. She didn't actually send me the invitation. Now I am getting emails from everyone--bosses, bosses boss, exbosses, friends, non friends, people I do business with, and so on. It makes me look bad when they get stuff like this thinking it is from me.

This makes me look so bad. If it ends up hurting me job-wise and so on, I can sue for damages since they didn't ask for permission.

DeBora, I got an email from Reunion.com saying it was an invitation from you a week or two ago and today I received another one. i had already read your email saying you hadn't sent it so didn't open either of them, just deleted them. I have never had anything like that happen before so don't have any advice but I can see why it would be annoying to you. I wonder if the person it came to you from had some kind of virus or something that started the whole thing. I hope Reunion.com can tell you how to fix the problem.

Sammi, I am so glad that you have ignored anything that states that I recommend anything from Reunion.com. As a result of me trusting that my friend really did have something there for me to see and me giving them my email address, I received 6 Trojan Horses and too many to count malwares. Of course, I have had them removed off my computer.

I am a member of Facebook, but they asked if they could look at my datebook and then I had control over who, from my datebook, I wanted to invite or add. This reunion.com thing never made requests or anything. The second I entered my email address, my DD called me to ask why I text-messaged her! This means, every one whom I have phone numbers for also got a phone call stating that I want them to see my, whatever, at reunion.com.

DeBora, wow, whatever kind of virus that Reunion.com used/had (if that is what happened) it sure works fast. When I saw a request saying it was from you for Reunion.com I thought it was unusual (because I know you don't do things like that) and there was also an email from you so I made sure to open the email first. Very glad I did. I would hope that anyone who actually knows you would realize that you would never send any kind of request like that. I would also hope that most people are aware that there are viruses etc. like that out there and be sympathetic rather than angry. I also hope that this doesn't cause you any more problems, especially professionally.

Sammi, one thing that I have learned, is that if I get an email stating that a trusted friend recommends such-and-such, I will contact the trusted friend first to make sure it is on the up and up,
