How Many Times Have You Been Married?

Marriage is an interesting topic these days, celebs marry & divorce weekly, neighbors divorce & remarry..

What about you? How many times have you been married? How long was each?
Share whatever you feel comfortable with sharing.

I will go first.

I have been married 2 times..the first time for 10yrs, and it seemed like I was doing all the work to keep it together..as I look back, he "just was not into me".

On my 2nd marriage, I have been married for 23yrs. This man is what marriage is all about..love, honor, respect..and we do disagree too, but it never lingers. I wish I met this man first. He is the "love of my life".

So, share if you can.

Hugs,
Janet

Good morning Janet and all, interesting topic.
I married for the 1st time April 9th of '55 and Uncle Sam sent him to Viet Nam (3rd time) Jan 14th of '73 and he decided to stay over there between there, Korea and Malaysia so have not seen him since. I did not get a divorce as to be blunt would have cut off all my military privaleges so stayed "married". Then I met a great guy Sept of '86 and we started seeing each other in Nov (funny that was same month began seeing EX in '53) anyway we got engaged Feb 14th of '87 and married July 18th of '87. Had 8 yrs and 3 months to the day when God called him home on Oct 18th of '95 (day after my b'day). I gained my younger son thro' him. David was a teen and stood up for his Dad at our wedding. He and fam are in Baltimore, MD I have 2 precious g-daus thanks to him my youngest of 6.

Wow, that is quite a story! My hubby and I knew at 11 that we were going to get married. Sure enough 11 years after, had a wonderful wedding and 26 years later we are still going strong with 3 kids, house and everything that goes along with it. We seem to be an oddity but that is okay with us! We have had our ups and downs like everyone else, but we were meant to be together. When we pass, we want to be cremated, put in the same urn and shook. I tease him that he will never be free of me!

Pag, what an interesting story..amazing how everything worked out for you.

Cooked, how cute that you both knew at age 11 you wanted to be together...so sweet, and sounds like all is working out great to you.

By the way, my hubby & I want to do the same with our ashes..

Gina and her hubby Kent also want to be cremated and who ever is left behind will hold onto ashes and then when the other one goes the boys Adam now almost 20 and Steven now 10 will take the ashes where ever G & K leaves instructions to do.
I will be buried by Otto neither of us wanted to be cremated altho' he did tell me since it was cheaper if I wanted to do him that way go ahead nope!
Nice Cooked "your love story" happy for you guys

I have been married only once. Hopefully it will be the only one for my lifetime.I met him at sixteen & married at 18 in 1955.

Been married this month for 53 years which is the average age for most of you on FC. DH went for his stress test last week on the threadmill. The Dr. today said, he did better than most his age lasting for seven and a half min. on an incline. The next few years are the scarey ones since he is in his eighties.

Everyone'e divorce stories are so different. I lucked out because I have the worlds greatest ex-husband. We got married because it was expected. It didn't work. We lived together for a year. 14 years later we finally made our divorce final. We laughed on the phone about it because we are such good friends now it scares people. Our lives are forever tied together as parents but I think even if that weren't true we would still be friends.

I was married the first time for 28 yrs. Ended in divorce because he was such a jerk. Stayed with him for many years because of the kids and no financial problems. Finally couldn't take it anymore.
2nd time lasted 7 years when dh died from a sudden heart attack.
3rd one is 8 and 1/2 yrs now.

Janet your first marriage sounds like mine. I was married for 8 yrs along with him and the marine corp. At the end we just didn't like each other any more. We had 3 great kids together. The best thing that came out of our marriage.

I am married now for 4 yrs. We have been together for 12 yrs. I got my dh and our oldest son at age 13. That was a challenge my oldest at the time was 8yrs old. I got a teenage boy that really never had a mother. He got a mom and 3 little siblings. Now they are all best friends.

My dh is the love of my life. We have had alot of challenges but so far we have got thru all of them.

My dh is a veteran and his first marriage was during his time in the service also. I think that both of us were attracted to each other because we both know about the military life the good and bad of it.

Sharon,
Sorry you had a jerk in your life, but great that you could move on and fall inlove again!
Some people remain bitter..and never get over the hurt..so glad you found and have happiness again.
Good Luck to you both!

Charlotte,

I am so glad you found the "love of your life" too! Going through challenges together, and lifes problems, can make you better and stronger than ever.

My first hubby was in the Air Force.

My second hubby was a Marine.

I love a man in a uniform! hee hee

Janet
