Homemaking books

Do you have any favorite homemaking books?

The two I most like are
"Welcome Home" by Emilie Barnes" and
"Mrs. Dunwoody's Excellent Instructions for Homekeeping" by Miriam Lukken.

I don't think I have read those. I do love Emilie Barne's books.

I have a few homemaking books that I like. One is called "Home & Heart" by Beverly Pagram. Then I have "Real Simple the Organized Home" (by Real Simple magazine) which makes me want to organize. I also have "Confessions of an Organized Housekeeper" by Deniece Schofield which is great. Another book I like is called "Your Home As A Sanctuary" by Josephine Collins but I think my favorite is "A Room of Her Own" by Chris Casson Madden which really isn't a housekeeping book but shows women who have rooms that are all their own (like art studios, sanctuarys, retreats etc.)

Here in Australia we have two alternative lifestyle magazines which come out quarterly - I look forward to these so much. I read them and then write on the front page an index for any articles which interest me. Not books, but really good magazines. Lorraine

Sammi,
It was some time ago but I remember reading "A room of her own."
My "room" is my corner by the Christmas tree. I have my chair, magazines, coupon basket, fleecy sock basket, greeting card box and calendar, candy dish, cup full of pens, a fleecy blanket..............and whatever book I am reading at the time and my never ending glass of Coze Zero!

Lorraine, the magazines sound interesting! Nothing better than a stack of magazines and a comfy chair!

hugs, train

I recieved Joni McCoy's Misery Moms yesterday! I am very excited. I found a 1959 Betty Crocker Entertaining Cookbook at the thrift store yesterday. I am enjoying them both.
